Hands down one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to! The food is absolutely incredible—I crave it all the time and would honestly travel any distance just to eat here again. On top of that, the owner is so kind and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. If you’re ever in Calgary, this is a must-visit spot. You’ll fall in love with it just like I did!

There's a reason Safari Grill has been around for a long time. Amazing food, once of a kind. You must try the Crispy Mogo, African Kabob, beef Samosa and the ribs. All to die for

Safari Grill is one of Calgary’s true culinary gems—if you’re looking for authentic East African cuisine, this is the place to go. I’ve been coming here for years, and the experience is consistently amazing every single time.

The food is always hot, fresh, and bursting with bold, rich flavors that take you straight to the heart of East Africa. Whether it’s the mishkaki, biryani, or grilled meats, every dish is cooked to perfection and packed with authentic spices. You can tell the kitchen puts love and care into everything they serve.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with beautiful decor that reflects East African culture in a tasteful, cozy setting. It’s a great place for both casual meals and special occasions.

And what really sets Safari Grill apart is the service. The staff are always friendly, attentive, and welcoming, making you feel like family from the moment you walk in.

Highly recommend this spot for anyone wanting to explore incredible flavors, warm hospitality, and a truly memorable dining experience in Calgary. A local favorite that never disappoints!

Always a great time here. The food is amazing. I have taken all my friends there and my family loves it here too. It feels so cozy and the food is almost like comfort food. I wish the space was a bit less cluttered and more airy though. The food and service compensates for it though. Will always come back for more.

This spot was great, Ribs, platter was amazing. I will definitely be back.

The portions on takeout orders is significantly smaller than dine in. Ordered muhogo yesterday, I was in disbelief at the serving as it was at most half the container and probably a third of what you get when you dine in.

They're doing great, especially when it comes to food they service according to your homeland

Safari Grill in Calgary never disappoints, but my absolute favorites are the Short Beef Ribs and Samaki. The ribs are smoky, tender, and packed with bold East African flavors, perfectly marinated and grilled to perfection. The Samaki, a deliciously spiced fish dish, is crispy on the outside and moist inside. Paired with their signature sauces, it’s a must-try! I have always had great customer service both by the staff and by Ali himself. He is very funny and makes your visit enjoyable and memorable. Always excited to come back.

My visit to Safari Grill in Calgary was an unforgettable culinary journey. The ambiance, with its warm earth tones and zebra-print decor, transported me straight to East Africa. The service was welcoming, and the aroma of spices filled the air.

I started with Masala Mogo, crispy cassava tossed in a rich, tangy sauce—perfectly spiced. For the main course, the Afrique Kuku stole the show: tender, grilled chicken marinated in peri-peri sauce, served with perfectly seasoned masala fries. The Kuku Paka, a creamy coconut curry dish, was equally delightful, with deep, aromatic flavors.

The highlight was the beef ribs, nicely barbecued and falling off the bone, packed with bold African spices. Every bite was a perfect balance of heat and flavor.

Safari Grill is a hidden gem in Calgary—whether you love East African cuisine or are trying it for the first time, this spot is a must-visit!
