For fine dining, I was expecting more comfortable seating- felt somewhat like a cafeteria style
Satsuki is the best sushi restaurant in the city. The service was very knowledgeable and welcoming. The quality of food was impeccable. We had the negi toro roll, the bluefin tuna roll, and the Satsuki roll. We also shared the sablefish risotto. The sablefish melted like butter!! Everything was absolutely delicious. We will be back!!
Great experience! This was our second time there and food was fantastic. Was a little taken aback by now much prices increased but glad the food was good!
Who said that Calgary doesn’t have decent Japanese food huh?! While “Ryuko” still rank number 1, “Satsuki” is at least one of the top 3.
Came for lunch and ordered a chirashi sushi combo ($22.95). It came with 2 snow crab rolls as well but I didn’t take a picture and finished them real quick 🤭 as they were yummy!!! (tired of those fake crabs rolls offered by most other Japanese restaurants).
The portion was perfect for me. Though it only came with salmon and tuna, I could say both of these were fresh!
Will definitely come again for dinner and try their other dishes.

I was a little bit surprised that they don't have Nigiri sushi, only Maki sushi (rolled sushi) and other items. I noticed rice is a little brown, so I asked one of their staff. She told me the vinegar they use is brown that makes rice brown and sweeter. I grew up in Japan. I'd never seem sushi rice is a little bit brown nor heard about that kind of vinegar. I notice their sushi rice is not really short grain sushi rice, so it's not very sticky. "Maybe" that one of reasons they don't offer Nigiri sushi. I think they can't make good Nigiri sushi with this rice and/or their sushi chefs are not trained enough to make Nigiri sushi. My husband and I had Kaisendon (seafood bowel). The presentation is nice and slices of salmon, tuna and scallops are big and tasty but quite different presentation than we have Kaisendon in Japan. I heard the owner is not Japanese, so they have different way to make sushi. This is small restaurant, there aren't many tables but there are long tables with high chairs. We got the long table with 6 chairs. Therefore, we didn't have much space on the table to put all dishes we ordered.
I don't have a single negative thing to say about Satsuki. I came in for a birthday dinner and had a lovely experience. The servers are lovely and knowledgeable, the food is delicious and the ambience is one of my favourite in the city. We tried a variety of dishes, my only complaint was the Mackerel roll, it simply wasn't to my liking but they graciously offered to remove it from the bill, which I wasn't even expecting. I will certainly be back and I recommend everyone to give this spot a try.
Amazing food and service!

I had booked this reservation for my significant other’s birthday, and it was our first time experiencing the omakase dinner. We were both excited for the experience, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet expectations. We felt rushed to eat each dish, and some items were served boiling hot, which burned my tongue. When I tried to take my time to genuinely taste the dishes, I felt pressured, as if everyone was waiting for me to move on.
The chef didn’t engage much with guests, and it seemed like most of the work was done in the back kitchen, with the chef mainly adding garnishes. While the food was good, the overall experience didn’t feel worth the $300+ price.

We had a pleasant dining experience overall. The atmosphere was comfortable and inviting, making it a nice place to relax and enjoy a meal. The food was well presented and nicely prepared, and the service was polite and friendly throughout our visit. It’s a good spot for a casual dinner, and we enjoyed the overall ambience of the restaurant.

First time visit and we were not disappointed. Food was excellent. Novel preparations, great flavors and the sushi was very fresh
Every member of the staff - the servers, owner, and the kitchen made this such a thoughtful and warm experience! The kitchen prepared a custom dessert for our special occasion which was extremely thoughtful, and the dessert itself was delicious and adorably decorated. Highly recommend. Worth it for the price not only because of the wonderful food and service, but also to be able to support such a lovely business and staff.

It was such an awsome experience. The food. The service. The atmosphere. Went on a date here and had to say the atmosphere was so cozy and lowkey yet still showcasing the details. And the food was on point. The miso soup, the sushi. Everything was on point. Its a must if youre looking for a good place for sushi!

The staff was lovely and the rolls were adequate. For the price I didn’t find anything that was crazy amazing but I really enjoyed the atmosphere!
