A very refreshing, delicious, and friendly place to go. I was really impressed by their Wagu beef gyoza and the flavour & texture in their rolls.
We tried the kaiseki boxes and all dishes seemed to be quite acidic and one noted. Service was quite slow and inattentive. For the prices, there are several other options available with better taste and service.
The risotto is our favorite. The tuna tasted a little bit frozen but overall was good.
The roasted cauliflower was mediocre.
Really pretty Kaiseki offering with nice flavors and some really cool ingredient combinations. Would love to see how the set menu changes next time we visit. Awesome service and this felt like an intimate, and authentic Omikase joint. Pricing for kaiseki seems reasonable at $90 pp with 9 dishes and a very nice miso soup. The soy sauce in brewed in house and I'll need to come back to actually try it on something, as the set menu was seasoned, but the spoonful i had was delicious. Nice place!
We were surprised by the food, given all the good reviews and the high prices. (We are from Japan and have pretty good knowledge of Japanese food, particularly sushi) The dumplings were very thick skinned and tough, and were cloyingly sweet. We didn't understand them at all. The beef tataki was tough, roughly cut, and unevenly seasoned. The fish on the nigiri was very good, and cut beautifully, but the rice was very under seasoned, it had no flavor. Negitoro maki tasted good, but it was rolled poorly (falling apart) and cut unevenly. Same with the Snow Crab roll, some of the pieces were twice the thickness of others (weird) and some were falling apart on the plate. The nori was low quality, supermarket level. Even the Japanese beer was not Japanese, it was a made-in-Ontario version of Sapporo. Service is basically non-existent, we weren't even thanked when we left. All of these things would be ok if I was buying from a supermarket, at supermarket prices, but at these high prices, I expect a lot more.
We enjoyed the food, my favorite was the sashimi platter...they are very generous with the serving and the fish is also very fresh. Unfortunately, the service was very slow and inattentive. None of our plates were cleared off during the entire time even though they brought other plates to the table. After we finished our meal, we had to waive down a server for the bill as we sat there for 20 minutes waiting. We could see other unimpressed faces as well in the room as they were either waiting for their food or a server to place an order. I think there can definitely be room for improvement for the service.
Very good food but the service was quite slow and inattentive and there’s basically no atmosphere. Substantially overpriced for what it is. Pretty much most sushi places in Calgary better than this place when it comes to vibe but they do get credit for location and authenticity
Had dinner here and the food was fantastic. We were all pleasantly impressed with the presentation and quality of the food. Service was great. The waiter was attentive and had great suggestions. It was an enjoyable dinner and worth trying!
One of few places you could go for sushi in this city. O toro sushi was amazing. Everything else as well. Highly recommended!
I have been looking for sushi in Calgary for a long time that would be tasty. And here it is! The food was 10 out of 10. The atmosphere is great, very cozy place. There are always a lot of people in the restaurant. Which is why the wait is quite long. But the place is good, I will come back))

We had a wonderful experience here. The food was incredible and the service was really special.
We had biked and so had a lot of stuff with us - they offered us a bin to place it all in by our table. They noticed right away how much we were enjoying the ginger and brought more. Those are just two examples - the whole time they were very attuned to us as unique customers.
On top of that the food is truly some of the best I have had in Calgary!
Best sushi in Calgary or at least top tier! Service was awesome and trendy intimate atmosphere - can’t wait to go again!!
Fast service and great sushi
We came for the lunch menu for the YYC dining experience and the food was really delicious. The seafood is very fresh and high quality. Unfortunately service left a lot (or all of it) to be desired as it was essentially non existent.
We made a reservation for 12pm and entire party of 5 was sat by 12:07pm. No one greeted our table after and we sat until I got up to find a server at 12:20pm. A few minutes later, she came by and took our order. We did not get our food until 12:50pm. No one came by to let us know the kitchen was running long, nor was the restaurant full. Zero communication, zero service. Only when I asked if this is the usual level of service to be expected, did the server indicate that a few orders went in at the same time. Fully cooked meals at full restaurants come out faster than the raw fish on rice we ordered.
After we finished dessert, we continued to sit for another 15 minutes before one of us got up again to flag down a server.
Quality of food was good but I wouldn't return for the absolute lack of service that asks for a minimum of 18% tip on the machine.
Just discovered this gem of a restaurant 3 weeks ago, and we have visited 3 times! Been missing delicious sushi like we had in Japan, but now that we found Chef May & the team at Satsuki, we are so happy!!
Delicious, fresh, tasty sushi, so many delicious menu items, you will absolutely have to come back again and again to try it all... plus eat all your favourites! The Hamachi, Shima Aji, Toro (both!), Blue Fin Tuna, and A5 Wagyu with Fois Grois (need I say more?!) are next level delicious. Have you ever had an Uni Martini - if no, you must go to Satsuki asap!
The Omakase Experience is just like our dinners in Japan, such a treat to sit so close & see all the action! With special attention from the extremely talented & knowledgeable Chef May, it makes for an awesome night out!
We also just went for lunch for the YYC Food & Drink Expo, and we were blown away once more! I have an egg allergy, and Chef is always so kind accommodating, offering options that are just as good (if not MORE delicious that the egg-filled version!)
Thank you Chef May, see you again soon!
