We had Mixology event at this bar and it was great. The atmosphere, the cocktails, the customer service we received was fantastic. Even though it was a group event, Ryan took personalized approach and made sure that everyone enjoyed the cocktails. Highly recommended

Shelter is by far the best bar in Calgary. Not only they have exquisite drinks but the staff is amazing. Great atmosphere, amazing food. It seems like the people who work there are really thoughtful and love what they do! Beautiful Canadian gem!

I walked in on a date with my wife, immediately got a “whoa what the hell did she sign me up for?!?” vibe, and then proceeded to have an incredible time.
I had no idea what I was looking at with the menu so I gave the server a vague description of what I wanted. She made some recommendations, and…wow, I didn’t know drinks could taste like that. Layers upon layers of complexity. Amazing.
And then to top it off my wife forgot her phone there and when I went back later they had charged it for her because it was dead and wanted to make sure that the owner could find it.
If you're looking for a true escape from the ordinary, step into Shelter Cocktail Bar. This place is an experience from the moment you walk in the door.
I've had some good meals in my life, but the food here... it was an otherworldly experience. My eyes honestly rolled back in my head. Each plate is a work of art! My favorite would be the cauliflower/chickpea thing.
The staff are just as incredible. Our bartenders were not only rising stars in the Calgary cocktail scene but also made us feel genuinely special. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and had a genuine passion for what they do. It’s rare to feel so welcomed and taken care of, and it elevated the entire evening.
And of course, the drinks. As a modern speakeasy, Shelter's cocktail program is a masterpiece of both classic techniques and modern methods.
If I had to complain about anything it would be the lack of actual seats. It makes it hard to bring a small group of friends. Just means I need to pick who I bring to this place and have more than one night out...OH NO! ;)
I can't recommend it enough for a truly unforgettable evening.

We came in for a quick stop before an event that we arrived too early for. Such a unique and very cool bar! We arrived at 7pm so we were the only people inside to enjoy the space. We tried a basil and tomato cocktail and it was so delicious. We'll have to come back to try more drinks from their extensive menu, they all sound fabulous.

Okay I’ve obviously known shelter was a cool place for a long time but finally made it there and WOW, it is worth the hype. The creepy vibe inside is matched with well balanced craft cocktails and great service. This is a fun place and maybe one of the best cocktails I’ve had this year. Great job team!
