The Cavalier lives up to the Sheraton brand: clean, professional, and trustworthy. Would return.
Rooms are clean and staff is polite. Plenty of parking. Location was useful for my proximity. In room coffee is so bad it's better to serve nothing. The lobby serves better coffee for no charge.
Great place to stay, but wish there was microwave or kettle for tea
Nice hotel and rooms
Kids loved the water park
Close to zoo, science center, airport, and Basspro/cross iron mills mall
I'm not sure I can go back to regular hotels. The bed, the bathroom - all excellent. The hot breakfast was great and the double waterslides at the pool were a lot of fun.
This is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in Calgary! Everything from Grant the GM, to all of his staff! (Peace was a wonderful lady at the front) they go above and beyond to help you with anything you need! The pool and water slides (2 in total) the fitness centre, plus 2 restaurants on site! Also pet friendly! I highly recommend!
Awesome place to stay, especially with kids. Waterslides are a blast. Always our first choice to stay when we are in Calgary.
Nice location and well maintained
Perfect- close to the airport- room service and bar- just old school classic classy hotel for pretty decent prices. Its not the cheapest but it is worth it for that little extra dew bucks you will feel so much better the next day.
Dog friendly really helped and made a world of difference to our trip.
Clean functional. Has a little cold war era flair. The pool is nice but packed with kids. As an adult who wants to relax for a few minutes this was not pleasant.
Restaurantji Recommends
Does not offer microwaves in rooms.
I stayed at this hotel for a big conference. The rooms were very clean, and the staff were extremely friendly, and professional. Would highly recommend!
The Sheraton was fantastic. Come here for work, rooms are updated very nicely, the amenities are great! Secret: there is a Steakhouse across the street that served me one of the best steaks I have ever had.
This is absolutely the worst conference hotel I have ever experienced. For the sake of potential future management and anyone thinking to book a conference hotel, I thought I would record the experience.
No WIFI!!! There supposedly was Wifi, but when I tried to ask staff about the codes to get in, they told me I would have to wait in another part of the hotel for another staff member to come tell me the codes. SERIOUSLY?! Wifi is pretty standard these days. Even the conference sessions were unable to access the internet, and some presenters had planned on using it and had to revise their plans.
Though the staff are individually kind people, they do not seem to have been informed there was a 900 person conference happening for three days this weekend. It was like this was a total surprise though it has been booked for months in advance. They did not have the staff on hand to cope.
1. In many places the acoustics are dreadful -- I actually left the Cavalier room with my ears ringing simply from colleagues socializing. The noise stress overall in many areas has made it much more difficult to concentrate.
I guess they also overstated their capacity, because there has not been enough capacity in any of the rooms for our conference. Even the keynote speech was standing room only and some people left outside. Other conference goers have mentioned that worrying they won't get a place in their sessions has really dampened the experience, especially when they travelled from quite far to come learn at this conference.
2. Possibly there is simply no management at present? It certainly seems like that. So many examples of poor or absent management.
a) Right when we first had registration in the lobby, until I insisted she stop, someone was vacuuming the lobby with a very loud vacuum -- while we were registering and greeting each other and needing to speak and ask and answer questions. It was so difficult to hear ourselves think. Clearly no training about thinking about what the guests are doing.
b) During the keynote, two waitresses kept moving through the room replenishing water bottles and unnecessarily very noisily bussing and clanking plates, which totally disrupted the speaker, particularly as the kitchen doors squeaked every single time! So we fly in this big name speaker and then during our moment to listen to his wisdom, the wait staff made it very difficult to focus on his message. Again, total lack of management or hospitality training, it seems. This could so easily have been avoided with simple timing. Place more water bottles so servers don't need to walk around clinking and interrupting. Bus later. Oil the squeaky door, at the very least!!! Honestly.
For another session that was supposed to have food available, the staff were late getting the food set out, which caused the speaker to delay the session.
Staff hasn't been taken on for things like having Henry's bar open during the days that 900 people were seeking places to speak to colleagues. They missed a huge lot of income that we all would have been happy to have a place to sit and speak, as well, the space was totally inadequate for our group.
This space might be appropriate for a much smaller conference, but the conference organizers should be aware of these kinds of issues so that they can be ready to jump on top of them. I personally found the rooms pretty awful too, but that's minor compared to all these other unnecessary troubles. Maybe I am writing this to remind myself in case I am ever booking a conference hotel in Calgary -- it won't be this one and if it ever is, we'll need people designated to see if the hotel is going to treat it seriously.
A good hotel for a family trip. This location has an indoor water park with multiple pools, hot tubs, and waterslides. The lounge has limited hours and offerings compared to other Sheraton properties. The on-site restaurants are good. Lots of open and enclosed parking options available.
