Overall the food and the environment is good! Especially the heaven crab and matcha pancakes are great!
Friendly people but waited way too long for the food. They came out separately and too far apart between each order so it looked so awkward for the 6 of us. The portion of the food is very tiny for the price we paid. The drinks are nice and probably the best part of the meal. I would not recommend this place to my friends.
My husband and I had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and they over delivered by surprising us for our anniversary! Thanks so much for making it such a memorable experience! Definitely worth a try. 100% recommended!
This was our 3rd visit for dinner. As we have come to expect, the sushi and sashimi were high quality, and the waitress was perfect.. there when you need her... The large "ice swan" accompanying the meal is a very artistic touch. Will definitely come again!
Delicious!

Reserved for a larger family gathering. Wait staff was incredibly patient with our multiple households with children. Atmosphere was a plus to my parents who like lots of natural light, Scandinavian-style, cafe ambiance. Coffee and tea were very good. Very interesting menu that has a bit of everything ranging from sushi to brunch. Will be coming back to try different sections next time!

We went to Shijo Cafe for a date night on a Thursday night. The sushi was impressive, although a bit on the pricey side. My favorite dish was the sockeye salmon sashimi—a beautifully fresh piece of fish that really stood out. The rolls were creative, featuring some unique options you don’t see at every sushi spot, which was refreshing.
However, the service left something to be desired. One of the dishes we ordered never arrived, and we felt a bit overlooked as we waited with empty glasses. The food came out in intervals, with long waits between dishes, and our drinks took a while to get to the table as well.
Despite these hiccups, Shijo Cafe has a lot going for it. The place is beautifully decorated, with sleek, modern decor, and the menu offers some genuinely inventive options. Overall, it’s a nice spot for a night out if you’re looking to try something a bit different.

Their sushi is always fresh and I find the pieces are very thick, very good quantity. I love their oysters when they are available. The tempura is always golden color so I know they most likely change their oil on the daily basis.
I stopped by to have brunch after my workout and ordered London fog toast from brunch menu. It was fantastic! A special sauce on top was awesome with rich flavor.

We’ve been customers for 10+ years, starting when Shijo was in Kensington. The new space in Royal Oak is beautiful. The quality of ingredients is outstanding. Everything is made to order and always perfection. Best sashimi I’ve ever had, with a shoutout to the Hamachi and the Dinosaur Rolls. In the new location, there is also a cafe, where everything is made in house, and delicious! Finished our dinner tonight with an incredible matcha sake tiramisu. Can’t wait to come back and try the brunch dishes!
