So far, I have dined here nearly 20 times, and it has become a must-visit spot for my wife and me when we want a comfortable, high-quality brunch.
The restaurant offers dishes ranging from traditional Japanese to Japanese fusion cuisine. Over the past year, the menu has been regularly updated with new items, including seasonal sashimi, sushi, and rolls.
My personal favorite is definitely the duck breast udon—tender duck meat served with bonito broth udon—which I almost always crave. However, I also sometimes try other dishes like pancakes and Eggs Benedict, which never disappoint.
Additionally, I highly recommend their slow brew coffee, which is hard to find at this quality and price elsewhere.

Shijo Cafe is my all-time favorite place! The food is absolutely amazing here, I honestly don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. I've loved everything from the incredible sushi and hot plates to brunch, coffee, desserts, and even bakery items. It's all consistently high quality! The sashimi here is top-notch, seriously so fresh! Wendy and Sam and staff are so nice and friendly, and they've created a wonderfully warm and welcoming atmosphere. It's the kind of cozy place you just want to settle into and enjoy. A perfect 5-star experience every time. I can't recommend it enough!

Love this newer sushi option in the far NW. I’ve had brunch here and it was amazing and time, supper was also just as fantastic. I shared the sashimi platter with my dining partner and we enjoyed the two different appetizers, the pork jowl and the grilled salt saba. The sashimi platter was fresh and so delicious. Until today, l did not know l would love hamachi! To think l was actually there to try the Ochazuke and pivoted when l saw their sashimi - no regrets whatsoever!

I had a great experience visiting shijo cafe! I stopped by to work on some stuff, and ordered a cappuccino and cookie. The cappuccino was very nice- really smooth and just sweet enough that it didn’t need sugar, but also didn’t taste flat (if you know what I mean.) the cookie was the dark chocolate sourdough cookie, and this was AMAZING. I like to think of myself as a sweet treat connoisseur, and as someone who limits how many I get per week- I had to order a second because of how delicious this cookie was. The service was also really great, the girl working there was kind and helpful! The whole cafe was really clean and quite peaceful on a Monday morning. They had fast wifi and lots of seating. You can also grab a full meal here, they have lots of options. The only wish I’d have is for a couple of cheaper items on the menu, maybe some more pastries, but other than that, it was a great experience!
*** update on August 16, 2025: I was very disappointed during my second visit to Shijo cafe, unfortunately. They didn’t have the chocolate cookie I’d loved last time, and zero dessert options that had chocolate in them. Everything was matcha flavoured, which is cool, but I don’t like the taste of matcha. I really wanted to treat myself to a cookie or two here, but left disappointed. Bring back the sourdough chocolate chip cookies, please Shijo!

I had brunch here today. Ordered tempura shrimp and a special sushi roll, then had a brunch. Service was great, food was excellent. Totally enjoyed a 2 hour brunch with a friend. The atmosphere is modest and family friendly and I highly recommend this Japanese brunch cafe!
Excellent food and customer services. Good place for brunch, tea or Dinner. Servers are very friendly. Good portion size. Food is delicious with reasonable price. Hidden gems in the area.
