This has been my go to spot for Korean for a long time, notably their hot pot bulgogi soup. They are a small family run joint and you get the typical delicious side dishes with your order.
My appreciation has gone up even more since returning from a recent trip to Seoul where I enjoyed very similar dishes at a number of great places right at the source. My first thought at these restaurants IN Korea was "wow, this is actually about the same taste as at Soban." Most other dishes I had over there were superior to places I generally order from in Calgary, as would be expected. But Soban absolutely nails their food and now when I order I'm instantly transported back to Seoul.

Gosh, I wanted to love this place and the chicken is actually pretty good. But it was awful. We asked for rice we got no rice we got no side dishes that you traditionally get & every other table seem to have., I have never been made to feel like more of an inconvenience so as much as I love the food, I will never come back, it felt obvious I was not welcome

The vibe are cozy during late lunch hours. Ordered spicy kimchi fried rice, both rice and side dishes are delicious with a tasty strawberry pieces after the meal.

Sketchy Korean place. Went to try the Korean food. As many others have mentioned, the staff is rude. We choose one main and appetizer for two people. It was declined by server. This is the first restaurant in all over Canada which forces you to order two main dish for two people. I informed that we will order appetizers and share but the response was the same. Go to KOR and other Korean restaurants if you want to try Korean food. Way better service. It’s surprising to see this place still open with its sketchy practices.

Went with a coworker and tried the lunch bulgogi beef bento box. Food was not hot, the potatoes were way too sweet and portion was small. He had the short rib which was quite chewy and had 4 little pieces. It was underwhelming for the price point. Will not return as there are many great Korean restos, mostly in NW Calgary.

For my experience at this place i would overall say that i am disappointed. Im not complaining about the place and taste of the food but just like what everyone has said the portion is way too small and we shouldn’t be paying for a portion that small for $18 to $19. When my friends and i entered the place there was not a single person except the staff , i really like how it looked but the service was very disappointing, two of my friends have decided that we’d be splitting the food but the staff (lady) said we couldn’t split and that we have to order per each and when we asked if we could just come next time and she was saying why are we not ordering with a tone and obviously we were confused so my other friend had to cancel her order. When it was time to pay my friend payed first but the staff said it wasn't working and that she had to put her pin and stuff so i had to go first and payed with my card but the lady said it was also not working so then I tried it again but it was not working so then my other friend had to step in and payed for both of our meal. After two weeks i was checking my transactions and saw that i payed for the meal i ordered twice even though the staff said it wasn't working. So i would like to say that my experience here is very disappointing and the fact that i got scammed and my friend had to step in and we basically paid the food three or four times and i deserve to get my money back.

My friends and I went here to try a new Korean BBQ spot, we got the yam tempura, La Galbi, Chicken Bulgogi and the Bibimbap and all of our meals were delicious! The prices were super reasonable and the server was lovely. I would highly recommend if you're looking for a new Korean restaurant to check out.
