The food was extremely good, as was the service and the vibe of the restaurant. Will definitely return.

If you're looking for a romantic date night place, a setting to impress friends, or to just have good, higher-end Italian food that's different from your local pasta place, Sorella is a great place to go! Literally named 'Sister' because of its affiliation with another great Italian spot, Mercato, the moment you enter Sorella's doors, you are immediately transported from Calgary's busy Centre st, into this rich, earthy, intimate environment where the noise simply seems to blur out; and all you can hear is the music in the background, and the soft, almost ASMR-like unintelligible chatter of the seated patrons. Best paired with lovely Sauvignon Blanc, I suggest starting your night with the grilled octopus. Tender to the bite with the smoky char flavour from the grill, the octopus is paired romantically with perfectly roasted potatoes, and a beautiful sauce that's a perfect mix of acidity and richness that reminds one of a love story in Fair Verona. Afterwards, you can follow-up your taste of the sea with a taste of the land by getting their bolognese or their funghi pasta - though if you're a regular of Mercato, you'd find their bolognese similar in flavour. I had the funghi pasta, and at first bite, it was like walking in a woodland forest, foraging for mushrooms. The mascarpone cream sauce is flavoured with bold thyme and rosemary that seemed to highlight the earthy, meatiness of the variety of mushrooms delivered by ribbons of pappardelle. Finish the night with a sinful bite of their chocolate torta. Decadent and rich, the flourless cake is like a velvety waltz of bitter and sweet that seems to glide on the tongue as if it were a ballroom in Turin. The vanilla ice cream topping pairing with the dark chocolate highlights the bitter with its cooling sweetness like Da Vinci painting the Mona Lisa.

We had an exceptional night at Sorella. The food was outstanding and the service was great. It was the perfect choice for date night with the amazing food and friendly knowledgeable staff, and great atmosphere. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back!

First time at sorella and it was exactly what we thought-amazing! Service was prompt and staff were all friendly. Food was amazing! Shared two pasta dishes, pesto gnocchi and penne with rose. Pasta was so tender and flavour bursting with freshness. The gnocchi was melt in your mouth. Great neighbourhood restaurant that we've wanted to try. Definitely will be coming back many times over.

Amazing food and cocktails. Had a wonderful time celebrating my 30th birthday on the rooftop patio!

Overpriced and Underwhelming. Stopped by at 4:30 for happy hour and sat up on the roof. The cocktails were great but the food was not worth the price. The Parma Fries were literally fries with parmesan cheese and nothing else (not even a herb), we were not offered a dip or anything else. The oil and vinegar that came with the (cold) Focaccia came in such a deep dish that we couldn’t reach the vinegar.
When we were leaving we mentioned the specifically the fries were underwhelming and while they did apologize, nothing was comped or any offers given.
Once we got home and were reviewing the bill we realized we were charged $1 per person for filtered water - which we did not request. We also were charged $22 for a Shirley temple with 2 shots of vodka, when all the other drinks were under $15.
Very disappointing for a beautiful location.

Very pretty restaurant and kind service c:

But the food was kinda mid considering it’s a bit higher than most places.
The mushroom pasta was about $31… which is kinda crazy for its size 🥀🥀🥀 there were a variety of mushrooms in it… perhaps like money, mushrooms don’t grow on trees either 🤠🤠🤠
I will say the texture of all the pastas we got was really good, had a nice chew and carried the sauces well.
My friends found the carbonara to be quite rich, but not much flavour. I think out of the four dishes we got the Al Limone was the best.
We also had shared calamari and the truffle fries, which were fine 👍

not sure if I would come back, would make a cute first date spot though.

Terrific food and the service was great. We were lucky to have a nice evening for the rooftop patio. A real treat. It was our first time there but won't be our last.

This was an amazing dinner! We had a birthday dinner with a set menu and I cannot stress enough how well Brie worked with us to accommodate our many request for our group! We were on the beautiful patio with a view of downtown that's was perfect for our group and the service and food was fantatic! I 100% recommend Sorella for anyone looking for great Italian food with extra care from their team and highly recommend the patio during the summer/ fall. Thank you Sorella, will 100% be back to visit you!

Had a great time at Sorrela! Popped in for our first time during happy hour and shared a few plates and everything was awesome. The decor and vibe of the restaurant was beautiful and I'm excited to come back and try more dishes.
