Itâs not often that I give a restaurant such a low rating, but this experience at Sultanâs Tent had to be shared. We had a reservation for a party of 10, yet still waited about 20 minutes to be seated. Not a big issueâwe were patient, and our server was genuinely lovely and friendly.
The real problem was the food and service time. Despite the restaurant not being too busy, we waited nearly 2 hours for our meals. Most of us ordered the Saffron Lamb Tajine, while a couple ordered the Kebab Lamb and Chicken Tajine. When the dishes finally arrived, the portions were shockingly smallâmy Lamb Tajine had just three tiny pieces of lamb. For $30 a plate, the value simply wasnât there. The taste was average at best, with an overpowering bitterness from the lemon. My friendsâ kebab platter was also dry.
Even our server admitted the portion sizes could have been better. Based on the reviews and photos we saw online, it seemed like our portions were significantly smaller, leading us to believe they might have run out of lamb and just served what was left by the end of the night.
In the end, we left unsatisfied, both in taste and portion size, and ended up grabbing Chicken on the Way to fill up our hungry souls. Definitely not the experience we expected.

We went here on a friendâs recommendation and I have to admit I was nervous. I have a lot of allergies and food sensitivities and going out can be challenging. I am so, so glad we went to the Sultanâs Tent because it wasnât just dinner, it was an incredible experience all around.
Our server Yanise (she was truly delightful) told us a lot about Moroccan culture throughout our time there, from having our hands washed in silver trays with orange blossom water, and her meal recommendations, and her astute awareness and sensitivity to our needs, pure perfection!!
The atmosphere is absolutely sublime, comfy, intimate seating, drapes and lanterns, it was all so beautiful.
And the food!! The flavour and presentation was absolute magnificence!! All four of us had superb meals, I can barely describe in words how delicious everything was. I was eating as slowly as I could because I never wanted it to end! I had the Sweet Chicken Tajine, and the chocolate mouse. I will be dreaming about it until I go back đđĽ°đ
If you live within a days drive, itâs worth the trip. Make a reservation, and do this for yourself!! This should be part of every trip to Calgary. If you live in Calgary, go here as often as possible. We will definitely be back!!!

I had a wonderful dining experience at sultanâs tent! I tried the chicken and the beef tajine both dishes were absolutely delicious, full of authentic Moroccan flavors and perfectly cooked. The service was excellentâfriendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. The atmosphere added to the experience, with warm decor that made it feel like a true Moroccan escape. An absolute gem! We ordered their pre fixed course (photos show the beef tajine, chicken kebab and salad ) and couldnât be more impressed with the quality and quantity of food. The service was fantastic! Highly recommend trying this restaurant.

Went there with family, And waited 1hr 50 mins. No food was served till that time. And was told it will take another 15-20mins for food. We canceled our order and went out.
Make sure you had eaten before u go there to dine in.
