I came to look for authentic Japanese food. However, from the first the I enter the restaurant, I heard that the waitresses were not speaking Japanese, I acknowledged that this restaurant is not run by a Japanese owner. For me, this is not a big deal. The reasons I gave such a poor grade for this restaurant, not only because both food and service are not acceptable, but the hygiene issue also disappointing me.
I ordered two rice bowls. Both of them were not hot. The sauces were too salty.
The washroom was horrible. No staff taking care about it. I believe AHS would fail it if they are undergoing an inspection.
The most annoyed me was the service. A waitress asked me whether she could collect the utensils, and I responded ok. Then suddenly another waitress t placed a card machine on my table without saying anything and then walked await. I didn’t call for checking the bill at all. This was ruled, seems that they wanted me to leave the restaurant as soon as as possible (there was not in the peak hour, empty tables were available, and no customers were waiting for the table).
Finally, their witnesses were speaking loudly between two ends of my table. This was disrespect their customers at all!

I really enjoyed the food. Decent fish and the salmon was nicely prepared, really nice yakitori, awesome crispy bottomed gyoza, and the rolls were good, but I thought the negitoro was a little mid. Even the miso soup was very nice. The atmosphere was... busy. And I think the crazy volume that they do is just a little too much to compete with some other sushi restaurants in town. But overall good. Would probably go again if we're in the zone. Would personally rate about a 4.3 if that was an option but 5 stars here and go enjoy!

I recently visited Takumi Sushi for the first time, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. I ordered four different types of sushi rolls, but none had any real flavor. The rice was the biggest issue it was cold, soggy, and stuck together like a dense cake pulled from the fridge. Sushi rice should be slightly warm, airy, and seasoned properly, but this was the opposite. The menu setup also raised concerns. Guests mark their orders on laminated sheets that look worn and touched by many hands, using a shared marker. It didn’t feel clean or inviting. I genuinely don’t know how this restaurant has received positive reviews unless those diners haven’t experienced quality sushi before. Calgary has much better sushi options, and I would not recommend Takumi Sushi to anyone

After doing some research, I decided to order the Party Tray A, and I’m so glad I did! Compared to other sushi spots in the area, this restaurant offers the best value for money for party platters. The sushi did not disappoint, the tray was a big hit and every roll was delicious! I’ll definitely be coming back, and next time I look forward to dining in. This place is always busy, which just shows how good it is.
