Tasty south Indian food, reasonably priced. Clean and nice place.
This was a very pleasant surprise. My daughter in law and I were in the area visiting the orchid festival and, when lunch hour hit, we had no idea where to go. We stumbled on a Taste of Chennai when a neighboring restaurant we had found online was closed for lunch.
Although the atmosphere is rather plain and could use some decor, the locale was clean and in good condition.
But what really inspired me to write this review was the food. We shared a curry chicken dosa and a rice crepe filled with potatoes that came with lentil sauces and other garnishes. Both dishes were delicious and could have fed an army - we weren't even close to finishing it.
I'm definitely visiting them again to try other dishes!
We were welcomed into this quaint restaurant by a very kind waitress who, after asking her what she recommended, knew exactly what we should try. She opened the menu to the page and described the dish to us and we were sold! Both portions were sizeable and absolutely outstanding in flavour and texture. Not only was the service quick and polite, but we even met the chef - Varun! What a wonderful experience - would 100% recommend this food to all my friends and family!
Mysore Andhra dosa the best for those who really like spice
Can't say I'm impressed. been to many many Indian restaurants this was not special at all. Ordered chicken Biryani and it was basically just a little bit of chicken and a huge bowl of rice. I had to order bread seperate. No lunch deals either dinner cost same as lunch. Also very very warm no circulation or AC and I got served warm tap water.
I will not be back .
Love their Biriyani, especially the jeerasamba biryani that they used to have on weekends. The porota and veg kuruma reminds me of home. Dosas are quite good too - highly recommend if you like Chettinadu food
Had medhu vada and South Indian filter coffee. Very refreshing. Would definitely recommend.
We had the meals for lunch and our experience was amazing. The mutton curry was one of the best we tasted. Would highly recommend.
Had great experience specially server really polite and cooperative Miss Sukhpreet .

Landed from Toronto and went here as it was nearest South Indian restaurant from Calgary airport .
The sambar and fried rice dishes were amazing .

A good spot for Dosa and chennai cuisine. Have tried porotta and chicken combo, kothu and masala dosa from this spot.
Authentic south indian food. Sukhpreet
was very attentive and friendly.
We revisited Taste of Chennai after a long gap and noticed significant improvements. The menu has expanded, featuring authentic South Indian dishes, with thali available daily, which is a great addition. We enjoyed chicken lollipop, dosa, poori, and jigarthanda juice—all were excellent, and the service was impressive.
We’re excited to return and try other options like the thali. Taste of Chennai is back in form; please keep up the consistency and variety!
Had Veg Kottu and it was way below average. I think the kotthu was undercooked. First time I was disappointed with Kottu at any restaurant. Looks good in the pic but did not taste good at all.
Food is awesome, if someone wants to eat good and authentic south Indian food. This is the place I'll recommend. 🫰🫰
