Thé Moon Tea House - Downtown

I was honestly excited to try this ice cream shop. My husband and I are on the hunt for the best ice cream in Calgary, and this place was on our list. However, I would never, ever go back.

First, the staffing situation is ridiculous. Even when the store is busy, there are only two employees, and one decides to take their break right then, leaving just one person to take orders, make the ice cream and drinks, and answer the phone. This slows everything down unnecessarily.

Second, the person taking my order was incredibly rude. I wasn’t feeling well, so I had a little trouble understanding her and politely asked if she could repeat what she said. Instead of being patient, she rolled her eyes at me and repeated it in a snappy, unpleasant tone.

On the other hand, some of the ice cream flavors were good, while others were not. If the experience had been different, I would have liked to try their drinks—maybe they’re better. But I will never return to a place where I’m treated poorly, especially where there’s no kindness at all.

Overall, this was a terrible experience. I wouldn’t go back, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it. It’s completely off my list. For now, Abby’s is still our favorite—the lady who served us there was warm, friendly, and always in a great mood, offering help whenever needed. Plus, the ice cream was amazing! We’ll continue our search for the best, but this place is a 100% NO for us.

Update: The product has been very unstable recently. It may be that the new staff is not familiar with the recipe. The smoothie series is very slow. It takes 20 minutes to get a cup of milk tea. If it is open in China at this speed for a week, it will go bankrupt😥

The kitchen looks very dirty from the outside. The curtains are all black. You can see garbage bags and other sundries piled up inside. I don’t know how the hygiene is

Original review: The fruit tea series are all delicious. The milk tea series are all made with non-dairy creamer powder. The white pearls are cooked more steadily. The hardness is stronger than machi. The milk tea flavored ice cream is a bit too sweet. Be careful when ordering

I love the ambiance of this place. So cozy and inviting. Maybe I'll come back to try other drinks.

They’re like McDonald’s. Their ice cream machine is always broken. Drinks are bland and overpriced. Customer service lacking

Just ordered chai latte it was way too too sweet. Wasted $6

Been here 3 times in last 2 weeks to try their Soft moon Series.

Opening , noon and close to closing.

They are always out of soft serve or forgot to prep the machine.

Disappointing.

Unprofessional ,
Staff Needs more training.
I came in for a simple latte.
I was told to pay than moments later I was told they had no milk. The staff started to laugh as I walked out. Horrible service and childish staff

Unique drink offerings in a clean spacious environment. The grape jelly drinks are recommended here. Averages around $7 a drink. Drinks can be on the sweeter side, I don't think you can adjust sugar level for most drinks.

They keep changing staff, drink tastes awful at times.

I was really disappointed with my recent order. The cup was nearly completely filled with ice, leaving hardly any room for the actual drink. I could barely taste any of the beverage because it was so watered down by the excess ice. It's frustrating to pay for a drink and receive mostly ice instead. I hope they can pay more attention to this next time.

Listen to the other 1 star reviews - don't come here if you want your drink in a reasonable time. Writing this review while I’m 30 minutes into waiting for a drink that seems like it will never come.

There's one person taking orders and making all the drinks on a Saturday afternoon with around 10 people waiting. To ownership: this isn't the first time you've had slow service complaints. Try hiring more people? When you're being a cheapskate on staffing, you're disrespecting all your customers' time, and also disrespecting the single staff member who's out there drowning in orders without support.

The drink is good but I was left alone for 20 minutes after I did my order. Then when I asked, the barista told me that he doesn’t recall that I did my order. I see so many other customers get their order before I did, even though they all came in after I did.

The worst experience ever!! They forgot my drink and i had to wait more than 20 mins watching somebody came later than me got their drink first! And they said “oh sorry what was your drink?” …..

Usually pretty good if you go in person (a bit pricy though), but every time we order from them on DoorDash something is wrong. Last time we got spoiled milk in our drink with chunky milk curdles and it was completely inedible. Other times we’ve ordered they have cancelled last minute because they clearly prioritize in store orders. Or they make the drink without the boba and without consulting before doing such replacements.

When they’re good, they’re really good! But these experiences have really turned me off.
