The food was really good, especially three desserts.
Very delicious vegetarian/vegan restaurant
New favourite spot acquired. This place is absolutely incredible. From the food, to the drink selection, to the amazing service - we have never been disappointed.
Good vegan and vegetarian options. The hummus with mushrooms was heavenly. Hot Pot Udon noodles were delicious! The falafel quesadilla was good too but not my favourite
The Coup is delicious! You don’t need to be a vegetarian or vegan to enjoy it. Usually vegetarian food is boring, bland and an afterthought at most places. Here it really shines and is delicious! I love the beachfront hot pot. It’s reminiscent of my favourite Thai food. The ambiance is great too and it’s located on the trendy 17th avenue so there’s great people watching.
This place is a joke - ordered hummus with naan worth over 20 dollars and received the hummus in tiny plastic side ketchup takeout box!! Never seen any food scam like that in my life. Shame on you, Coup, what a rip off. Do yourself a favour people and eat somewhere else!
Excellent food, with an eclectic offering. The restaurant is bright, open with natural decor in a fun and vibrant part of downtown Calgary. The service was excellent with a friendly waitress who had great recommendations . Great experience and will definitely be back.
Excellent food and service plus the Coconut chai latte is made with love

While visiting Calgary, I stopped for lunch at The Coup, and it was a delightful experience. I ordered their house-made iced tea and the Dragon Bowl—a lovely vegan dish featuring tofu, miso gravy, and quinoa. The iced tea was refreshing, with just the right balance of natural sweetness and flavor, making it a perfect drink to complement the meal.
The Dragon Bowl was exceptional—each ingredient was fresh and flavorful, and the creamy miso gravy tied everything together beautifully. The tofu was cooked to perfection, and the quinoa added a hearty, satisfying base. It was clear that a lot of care goes into creating their plant-based dishes.
The ambiance at The Coup was warm and inviting, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Whether you’re vegan or just looking for a delicious, wholesome meal, The Coup is a must-visit spot in Calgary. I’ll definitely return on my next trip!

From the opening cocktails to the delicious main courses The Coup delivered five stars across the board.
The espresso martini was divine with a few coffee beans to keep you nice and alert. The gyoza was a nice appetizer to start.
The mains were ample size and more than enough to take home.
For service Ashley was the perfect balance of "I'm here to support your food journey" while ensuring we had time to ourselves.
The people watching and ambiance just grooved chill and relax as well.
A staple to the Calgary vegetarian scene!!

It’s not easy find vegetarian restaurants on Monday in Calgary and could accommodate my special request for no onion, no garlic. Appreciate your service and food. I called the front desk and placed the order via Uber eats.

I've been a fan of the coup for a while, but a particular detail stuck out today. I ordered delivery and added a special request for no olives (not an allergy) on a dish that typically has olives. When I opened the bag, I noticed the kitchen wrote 'falafel - no olives' on the container. For someone who has a fair bit of anxiety worrying if the kitchen sees these requests (that have been ignored in the past by other restaurants), it was reassuring that the kitchen saw the request and took the time to confirm the request on the container. It was an immediate relief and it felt so thoughtful.
The coup has consistently made delicious and hearty meals, and is the perfect place for happy soul food. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I loved this place in 2021, especially as a group of vegetarians.
In 2022 or so they changed the menu from proper dishes to what I can only call
à la carte vegetables. I think the idea was to make it easier to share, but in practice the food was worse and more expensive.
I also got an entire chunk of deep fried ginger in my mushrooms, which was a surprise to say the least.
Looks like they've since changed the menu again, but my last experience there (2022 or so) was disappointing enough that I haven't been back. Too bad because it used to be great.
Vegetarian options: Pretty sure this place is vegan
Dietary restrictions: I think it's vegan
