Enjoyed the innovative dishes on this new menu but felt like the pasta needed more seasoning. Patience for the students learning is required when visiting The Highwood as not every visit will be top notch but I did appreciate the effort the student server put in. The temporary location poses some challenges as we were guided to the dining room, it is clear the entire building is under renovation but having the nice lady down in the hallway on the main floor greeting you was a nice service touch. Cant wait to see the original location re open again.

They should have not opened, their new location. it felt like l was in a hospital cafeteria. The meat was so tough, over cooked, the potatoes tasted like they were in the freezer for months. The waiter said he only recommended one thing on the menu.

The meal was excellent, and the chef who prepared dessert tableside was absolutely fabulous. However, we were very surprised by the lack of knowledge and service from our waiter. We asked several questions about the menu, and he did not seem to understand and was unable to answer any questions about the food.

The Highwood is a sophisticated, student-run restaurant, and constructive feedback is important for learning. Unfortunately, my first visit was not fully satisfactory. We were a group of four. The complimentary appetizer was appreciated and flavorful. The onion soup was excellent, but the soup of the day was overly salty, with little lobster flavour, and left me feeling unwell. The Beef Wellington was good; however, the pasta dishes ordered by three guests were overcooked, bland, and could not be finished. Dessert preparation at the table was well presented, but the flavour was not memorable. Service was polite and attentive, but the server lacked knowledge of the menu, showing a need for better training. Thank you.

The food was delicious! We loved everything that we tried, especially the Lamb Wellington and the banana flambé. Worth the price and a great experience!

We all enjoyed the pasta special which was absolutely delicious... not great at describing the dish but among the best we all had ever eaten. The lemon tart was outstanding too!!! Service always special and attentive! Look forward to going again!!

The students here are so kind and attentive, they’re doing such an amazing job! The food was super good as well so props to the culinary students. The pumpkin or squash soup that they had was so good and it was my favourite dish! Great job students 😊

Our first visit and it won't be our last! We were gifted a small and yummy sample of soup to start and then sweet and tasty gummies to finish!!! We felt like a special guest!! And my steak was cooked to perfection! Sweet to see our youth practicing new skills in an encouraging environment

Always a great time.

I love the idea that the food you are being served is a graded evaluation for the students and directly reflects there success in the culinary program. It ensures you are always served the best food accompanied by great service, which is also a graded component.

I wish they brought back the 5 course chef inspired tasting menu though

Meh. I am not sure the serving staff were given any instruction. Also, it is at a different location so the ambiance was lacking. The food prices were great, but a little bland.

We had a lovely date and the student staff were so pleasant to interact with. Will be returning -- the quality of food and service is excellent.

Thank you for a wonderful evening! The staff and students were friendly and professional every step since the arrival until departure. We will definitely comeback again! It was a privileged to be a part of a very meaningful experience for students and staff. Thank you for providing us, the public, with a glimpse into how amazing SAIT is, and continues to be, for our future generations who are interested in the culinary & hospitality programs!

We had very good dinners in the past at the Highwood and we were looking forward to this one. On Ambiance: The original dining room is being renovated, so we were in temporary accommodations, which while not horrible, were not optimal. On Service: Courteous and competent would best describe our experience. Props to Rei, our server. On food: The menu was very appealing but the execution was not up to the ambition. - Top marks for the tartare and the desert - A bit of a miss for the duck which was hard, no wow factor On Value: Half the value is to get to taste what the new generation of chefs will come up with. In this case, perhaps we landed on a junior cook day, there were some highs but a bit short of expectations. Overall: Not bad but not spectacular.

I have been to Highwood perhaps a dozen times in the past 8-10 years. I keep coming back. It is an educational setting but it has class. The tables are spread apart. It is calm. The students are the servers and the staff is available for a chat about how things are going. The current room is about one third the size of the regular dining room (which is under construction). The food continues to be outstanding from the amuse gueule to the little surprise sweets at the end.
