I got the ox tail meal and my bf got the curry goat meal, I have been eating ox tail for years it my favourite dish and I’ve never had bones like this! There was so many small bones I had to keep picking out I wish I took a picture of how many was in my one dish, both plates were watery and had no flavour! The portions were very small considering the ox tail plate was $26I feel like everything was cooked from frozen, I will never be back!

Don’t bother coming here unless you’re looking for bad food, bad service, and bad attitude. Not a business you want to spend your money in.

I’m being generous here. If you weren’t born and raised in the Caribbean this restaurant will be great for you. I got there at 11 am and the cashier was in no way friendly. The oxtail was ok but something in my food was frozen and reheated. The broccoli ? The rice? All of it? I could taste the fridge in my food. The fried dumpling / bakes tasted like freezer too. Pholourie dried out. This food experience was a real disappointment for me. But hey the cashier said thank you for choosing roti hut when I was leaving and that was nice. Again, if you truly didn’t grow up eating Caribbean food daily and/or you truly don’t cook it, this restaurant is for you. This is an honest review.

Would not even bother coming here. We should have read the reviews before coming. Right as we walked in we didn’t notice the menu on the wall and asked for the menu and was met with a nasty attitude saying we have to look at the wall and order from that. We disregarded it because we were excited about finally getting to have some Caribbean food since it’s so hard to find. When we went to order we wanted to get salt fish and bake but was told it was out so we had to choose something else. We asked for recommendations on what special they had or what is popular from this store, and the lady at the front just told us that’s your decision not mine. All we wanted was recommendation and she kept giving us attitude saying your decision not mine. We understood that but wanted to know what was popular about their store and she couldn’t even recommend anything. Then she went on to say, that we came into a restaurant and not know what to order which is our problem. Mind you, I was there with my partner (who is a different culture from mine) trying to introduce them to my culture’s food and this was the attitude that met her first encounter. Absolutely horrible service, and I’m glad we walked out before wasting our money.

August 16, 2023. I (a trini) tried the chicken roti aloo (alu) pie and the doubles. The chicken roti was very nice considering this isn't Trinidad and Tobago. The chicken was properly curried. The roti skin was so soft. Bess by even trini standards. The aloo pie was hot and crispy. The doubles was ok. Bara was decent. Channa well was ok. The price so much cheaper than the other places in Calgary. It pushed me to say 5 stars. Good bang for your buck

I'm from Toronto and new to Calgary so I was looking for some authentic Trini food. I was greeted with a smile and friendly service. The food was delicious. I got curry chicken roti and oxtail rice & peas... both were made to perfection. I would highly recommend The Roti Hut. Two thumbs up!

After reading all the reviews I had to check this place out for myself. I didn’t think it was that bad. So I went and wow! Now I see why the reviews are the way they are. This is an honest review. I had the vegetarian roti and doubles. When first eating it, it was okay. There isn’t much taste to it. The vegetarian roti tasted a little old and the doubles had absolutely no taste to them. It was okay but nothing to write home to mom about. Flavour is not there. One thing that really turned me off of this place which, I will not return, is the fact that I had really nasty gas after eating there. I eat very clean practically vegan so after eating there I had really smelly gas (sorry for the TMI but it needs to be told) so as a result of that it really would not be my first or last option. It’s just not an option at all. I understand why these people are in business because when people are hungry they will eat anywhere. I rather stay hungry and cook at home IMHO.

I ordered doubles and an aloo pie for a quick take out snack. The doubles need more work(as in sauces and flavour), I've had better doubles. The aloo pie was made on the spot and was better. The lady that served me had good customer service.

When there today first time . Asked the lady what's her specialty her answer is I don't know what you want to eat that's your decision again I asked her but what are you famous for what's really good today The gold the beef I don't know you need to know what you want most places have a specialty and I'm not being a princess what are you famous for. I still chose to go ahead and order I was going to get a roti two of them and a whole bunch of doubles I just moved here from Toronto so when I asked her how much meat comes inside a roti is it just enough a good amount I was ready to pay her extra money for extra meat that could needed it all she could say was sir I put in as much as I feel it needs to be inside Buy it now and if you don't like your portion size come back again in order another one why would I do that why would I want to pay and hope that's the right portion size just tell me right off the bat it's a good portion size or I think sir you should buy extra no problem I don't have problems spending extra money but at least telling you customer it is what it is give us guidance give us help You've lost the customer a new customer and not a cheap customer

Very dissapointed with the oxtail all around, was chewy and bitter. Way to much Worcestershire sauce, no thyme and no spice to it whatsoever.Doubles were on point and so was Buss up shot.

My father is from T and T. Growing up I had this style of food and walking in the first time felt like I was visiting family. Overall was great. The food was exactly as I expected it and it was fantastic.Talking with the employees here was great too talking about Trinidad and the culture.Would recommend for sure!

I went there today for lunch and the lady was very rude and I swear she skimp on the food because I was not too happy with her attitude towards me Rice was a bit sour like it was spoiling and the roti barely had anything inside ? never again
