Everyone has a ship story. An institution no doubt, highlighted by a couple of gems in the music industry.
But the ship has lost its way.
Toxic bullying from the top down has resulted in a security staff that is anything from professional.
Not a place to feel safe anymore, not a family space anymore.
If you still like the Ship vibe, I recommend going when there's live music - avoid the evenings and big days (st patty's, new years etc).
They just have no control over their door staff and frequent management changes means there's no improvement or accountability to make this place worth your time and money.
The Ship's had it's day, check out the dozens of good venues literally on the same street.

A Calgary classic. Always great service, reasonable prices, and lots of vegan options :)
Experienced this place now through all the seasons and for some reason while everywhere else is quite and slow through winter, the Ship & Anchor is thriving. Friendly and quick bar staff means you're never waiting long for a drink. Plenty of seating in and out (when the weather permits) and an all round great atmosphere.
I can't select how much I spent here per person as every time it changes, but I will say its at least 5 drinks worth 😂
