Always feels like home at Ship and Anchor!
No matter who you are, you belong here. Ship and Anchor has that rare magic.. the kind of place where everyone feels welcome, and good times are guaranteed.
Sous Chef Chris deserves a special shoutout - he’s a kind and generous human. He’s happy to share menu suggestions and make you feel like part of the family, his warmth adds so much to the whole experience. Humans such as Sunny and Phil make the night with their incredible customer service and friendly charm.
It’s the kind of spot where you can say hi to anyone, strike up a conversation, and leave with a smile (and probably a few new friends). Whether you’re there for the food, the vibe, or the people.. Ship and Anchor never disappoints.
As someone who lives a block from this bar, I've been several times. The attentiveness and responsiveness of the staff is remarkable, no matter how slow or busy it is, definitely properly staffed every time I've gone. However, the food can be a huge hit or miss. Huge hit: The Ship burger, loaded. Hot, huge and delicious. Miss: Chicken Caesar Salad, full serving. The chicken is delicious, croutons, lettuce, bacon bits, all great. It's the dressing. It's clear/brownish like a vinaigrette, and tastes kinda caesary, but it destroys the expectation of a proper caesar, from the look to the taste. Definitely not ever getting it again. Watchman's makes a good caesar, Unicorn on 4th makes a good caesar. Not spending $19 on that again. Atmosphere is dark, almost too dark to read a food menu, so looked at the menu on my phone. Also the music, very loud. Anyways, I'll come back again, mostly because I live off 17th, but I'll stick to the classics. In this economy it is too expensive to eat out and make a mistake.

Had Caitlin C as a waiter. She was very rude. Very short with her words and left while I was in the middle of a sentence. Me and my buddy were asked “what do you want?” In an inconvenienced or annoyed way. Pretty disappointing. I would’ve asked if she’s okay but didn’t even get the chance to talk.
They play alot of 70s to 90s punk, alternative rock, which is cool, but early Saturday morning was a bit intense.
Bartenders were very cool and inviting

Unacceptable experience with door staff, sub-par experience with serving staff. I had been going here for years but recently my experiences here are just not worth my time. There are plenty of other pubs nearby that offer the same sort of food and atmosphere; suffice to say I wont be returning and will be cautioning everyone else to stay away. There is nothing special about this bar.
