Had a nice early dinner before heading to a candlelight music concert. Did not realize the restaurant is the Delta's hotel restaurant. The decor was warming as we set next to the fireplace. Service was great and as it was happy hour you could have the house wine for $9 for 9 oz or $6 for 6 oz ~ no real decision there! We started with the wings, which were warm and delicious with the sweet chilie sauce and blue cheese ranch. Ordered the crispy tofu and asparagus bowl and my husband had the braised short beef. His portion was small for the price, while my bowl was more than I could eat. I would go back for the happy hour items for sure.

Lovely waitress. She was the only server and was very pleasant and capable even though you could tell she was stressed

Love the shoe and canoe! We work nearby so this is a nice place to stop in for breakfast, lunch or an evening bite. We had a super positive experience with Shelby as our server yesterday. She was upbeat and fun! Loved her energy! Keep it up Shelby. Another server that we really like is Cheryl. We've had Cheryl as our server at least a couple of times in the past. Cheryl is pleasant, attentive and provides fast service when on a time crunch.

A decent restaurant attached to a hotel, with good food and service. Not terribly exciting but does the trick if you don't want to walk far or meet up with some friends. For additional 15mins walking or hired car can be at more dynamic place with greater range and depth.

We were looking for a quiet evening dinner after a long day however the playoff hockey game was on so it was very loud and not relaxing.

The appetizers, sandwiches, and main menu items are limited but all are well-made. The drink choices are varied and are good. There are TVs for sporting events.

It was just ok. I’ve driven by this restaurant so many times and I was under the impression it was a bit fancier. It’s just a basic hotel restaurant and the food was alright. The Cesar salad on the side barely had any dressing or flavour and the burger itself was nothing special. They also used halved cherry tomatoes instead of a tomato slice and I don’t love that. It’s also a Pepsi restaurant and the non alcoholic drink options felt limited.

This is the second time we have been to shoe and canoe. We were off to the theatre afterwards and told our waiter so he was quite prompt in bringing our wine and food , just as before service was excellent. It was extremely loud in the restaurant as there was a huge group at one end of the restaurant, but other than that lovely service and lovely food.

Had a mid morning breakfast of sausage and eggs. The meal was brought quickly, 3 sausages, 2 eggs, 2 slices of toast and some greens. Typical fare. Ordered coffee (Starbucks I believe) and the quantity was very generous for the price. We had 3 cups and a larger take away cup and still some coffee in the carafe. We missed the breakfast rush intentionally.

I was there with my husband last week and Gabriel, the bartender, gave us excellent service and made a wonderful Old Fashion! I’ll definitely be back!

From the moment we stepped into Shoe & Canoe the other day, we knew we were in for a treat, but it was our server, Cheryl, who truly elevated our experience to an extraordinary level. Her warmth and enthusiasm were palpable, instantly making us feel welcome and valued.
Cheryl was not only attentive but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. She provided insightful recommendations that perfectly matched our tastes.
What truly set Cheryl apart was her genuine passion for service. She consistently checked in on us, refilling our drinks with a smile and ensuring that our luncheon experience was flawless. It was evident that she took pride in her work, going above and beyond to create a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere.
In addition to her stellar service, Cheryl radiated positivity and created a lively rapport with our table, which added to the overall ambiance of the restaurant. Her attentiveness combined with a joyful demeanor made our luncheon not just a meal, but a memorable experience.
As we left Shoe & Canoe, we could not stop talking about the delicious food, but it was Cheryl who truly won our hearts.
If you ever find yourself at Shoe & Canoe, do yourself a favor and ask for Cheryl. You won't just have a great meal; you'll enjoy exceptional service that makes dining out a delight!
Thank you, Cheryl, for making our lunch so special!
We can’t wait to return!

Server ( Lesa) has unnecessary attitude!!!

I was really disappointed when I walked in for takeout and the server wasn't welcoming. I didn't think much of it since I was just grabbing food to go. However, when it was time to pay, I didn't leave a tip because of her attitude. As she took the receipt back, she said 'thanks for no gratuity,'

which shocked me. I asked her if that comment was really necessary?!!! and she replied it wasn't meant for me but it was just me and her there 🤔.
I told her I would have tipped if she had a better attitude or if I was dining in.

You can’t expect someone to tip you when you can’t even do the bare minimum!!! Nice welcoming smile with a better attitude.
The “Entitlement attitude” does not suit someone in the hospitality industry.

I ordered the bison burger and it was delicious, but I will take my business elsewhere where I feel welcome.

Even though I wasn't a guest at the Delta Hotel downtown, I decided to check out The Shoe and Canoe Public House, and I was so glad I did. From the moment I walked in, the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, making me feel right at home. The service was impressively fast – no long waits for anything! And the food? Absolutely great. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Plus, I really appreciated how clean and well-kept the entire place was. It made for a really pleasant experience. I'd definitely recommend The Shoe and Canoe to anyone looking for a great meal and friendly atmosphere in downtown Calgary, whether you're staying at the hotel or not.
