Service was great! Food was good, but didn’t wow me. Solid brunch spot.

My partner and I had brunch for the first time at the Sweatered Hen on a whim and it was incredible. Firstly the staff was incredibly friendly. We were welcomed with a smile and our server asked if it was our first time there and then proceeded to answer any questions we had about the menu.

The atmosphere was very every pleasant. The dark walls mixed with the earthy accents of wood trim felt very cozy and inviting.

And now for the main course. The food was unbelievable. I had the Huevos Ranchero and my partner had the Henny Benny. The hollandaise sauce is phenomenal. We both agreed it was the best we've ever had. It didn't seem as heavy as other hollandaise sauce but the flavor is unbeatable. I'm usually a fast eater but the food was of such a high quality and taste that I ate slower than I ever have before, savouring every last bite and fighting the urge to lick my plate clean in front of a packed house.

10 out of 10 on all criteria. We will definitely be back for brunch again. We were also informed that they are now open for supper on Thursday to Saturday, serving from scratch pizza and pastas and we will definitely be trying that as well.

Edit

1 year later.. same. If you haven't been here yet do yourself a favour and make the trip. It's well worth it

Good vibes good environment but we had the chicken and waffle and the carne bowl but it’s mostly carbs and not a lot of protein so didn’t appreciate that. The ratio was way off

Absolutely loved this place! The food at The Sweatered Hen is amazing — I had the pancakes and they were some of the best I’ve ever had. Super fluffy, topped with fresh berries, granola, lemon curd, and a drizzle of syrup. Everything tasted fresh and looked beautiful. The café has a cozy, relaxed vibe and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. Great coffee too! Perfect spot for breakfast or brunch in Calgary. I’ll definitely be back!

I was in the area, originally planning on going to another restaurant but it was closed.
We walked up the street to find the Sweatered Hen. Our server was lovely, I wish I remembered her name. The menu looked so good it was hard to decide what to order. We ordered the avocado toast, yogurt and granola and an eggs benny with hashbrowns. All delicious! As well as our lattes. I would definitely eat here again next time I visit Calgary.

My first visit today. The strawberry French toast is delicious. Service was speedy and pleasant. Coffee was good. I found it to be very noisy and hard to converse. It's also quite crowded. And a point I always look for - the washrooms were very clean and accessible.

It was great breakfast, the food was tasty, but I didn’t like their tomato soup…(
But I want to say really thanks to the server, she was doing really good job, smiled a lot, worked fast .

Thanks you guys for my breakfast 🤞

Where can I start!! Drink recommendations by our lovely server was amazing! The bounty coffee was delicious and the presentation for the orange mimosa was like art! Our food just had to be the best part! I got the Carne Asada Bowl and my boyfriend got Birria breakfast tacos and wow we were amazed on how tasteful everything was! The first few bites of the potatoes were truly tasty and the rest was just chefs kiss! Hope to see this restaurant in Edmonton soon!
