Just got a few beef subs to go and had them for my supper.
What a disappointment! not sure where the beef was🙈?
There was a few shavings of beef, that was it?
So, so disappointing.
Was sad to see this old fave had changed ownership/management when I stopped by today. It has been a long while and I was sad to see my familiar faces like old friends were no longer behind the counter :(; but hoped the food and quality would remain have remained with the name. This was once THE BEST Vietnamese sub in Calgary and that I had ever had. This is no longer the case. The bun was dry, very little sauce/spread, a thin layer of meat, where it used to be generous and barely any cheese to speak of. I'm sad to say I won't be back and hope to find a new place that comes close to what this once iconic place was. I hope the previous owners have taken their very much earned retirement, they deserve it for the years they served up memorable subs. The owner always recognized me when I walked in no matter how long it had been since my last visit. All the best to them.

It's seems like the ownership has changed and with that the quality of the subs. There is less meat and vegetables in the sandwich. Doesn't taste like it used to.

I'm from Toronto, visit Calgary for work on occasion. I've had many a banh mi in my life, including fancier ones from all over the place in the GTA. I was incredulous at the start rating--could it possibly be that good? Listen, it is. GO. Life-changing artwork is being made here. Ate one outside on a stoop for lunch, then went back inside for another one so I could skip dinner. Just wow.

I’d actually like to give them 4.5 or 4.75 out of 5, but I mean it makes no difference. I’ve been an on and off regular since 2002 and this was always my favourite place for Vietnamese subs. I haven’t been around for the last few years so I did not know about the new owners but I have nothing but good things to say about them. Nothing will ever beat the Nguyen family’s subs which is the 5/5 rating for me but come on….the originals can never be duplicated and more often than not fall very short of expectations when someone new comes along, still these subs in my opinion just as amazing, great flavour, good helpings, fresh ingredients, sauce is still awesome, and the price is more than fair! I’ll keep coming back when I’m in town and I just moved within a kilometer of the place so as along as nothing to drastic changes, still the best place in my opinion. Keep up the good work guys and thank you for keeping this place going!!

I haven't been to Thi Thi in a while, but was craving my favorite Vietnamese sub. I was shocked at the meager toppings, not like I remembered. I now understand that the previous owners sold. I will never be back!! Would no longer recommend.

On my way back from Banff to Calgary, I suddenly found myself really craving a Thi Thi Vietnamese sub, so I googled the address and drove straight over. While doing that, I came across quite a few negative reviews, which honestly surprised me. After reading them carefully, I noticed many complaints about smaller portions or changes in taste since the new owner took over.
As someone who has been a loyal Thi Thi customer for about 9 years, I felt compelled to share my experience. I used to work downtown and don’t like bringing lunch from home, so I went there often. I knew the previous owners well—we would always chat a bit whenever I came in.
When the new owners took over, I also had concerns at first. However, I personally watched them train under the original owner for several months. Since then, they’ve been consistently hardworking and careful with every sandwich they make. Early on, they even used a scale to make sure the meat portions stayed accurate, since they were still getting used to the measurements after taking over from someone who had done this for 20 years. That really impressed me.
I go very regularly—almost every one or two weeks. Sometimes I stop by for lunch, other times I buy extra to share with family and friends. In the summer, I even brought their subs on camping trips, which saved me a lot of effort cooking outdoors.
Honestly, I have not experienced any drop in quality, portion size, or taste. Everything has stayed remarkably consistent, and the prices haven’t changed either, which is rare and admirable in today’s inflation-heavy environment.
Thi Thi remains one of my favorite spots, and I’ll continue supporting them as always. Keep up the great work!

Very good Viet sub. Potentially the best in Calgary. New owners have worked hard to keep the sub similar to the past. Very happy with the sub and store!

Hi! This was my first time trying your SUB. To be honest, I felt a little bit disappointed because my friends had told me before that your sandwiches were always packed with lots of meat and veggies. But this time, the portion didn’t really go beyond my expectation. I guess it might be because of cost control, which I totally understand. In today’s economy, the value is still okay, but it didn’t quite exceed the impression I already had of Subway.
Secondly, just my personal suggestion: maybe you could install a magnetic mosquito screen for the kitchen door—I saw some on Temu. That would help keep flies out. And in the front area, a mosquito-repellent lamp might also help.
Lastly, the girl at the counter who took my order had such a sweet smile. But unfortunately, she said it was her last day working there. Honestly, one of the four stars this time is for her.
I really hope you keep going and do even better!

Okay if you're just looking for an ordinary Vietnamese sub (Banh Mi). It's nothing extraordinary and maybe comparable to something you could get an Asian grocery screen.
This used to be my favourite place to get a Banh Mi, but unfortunately it is not anymore!
They have a few more options for the subs, but the flavour overall is definitely lacking and so are the ingredients in the sub itself. We have tried it a couple of times since they have changed owners, but it's just not the same!
We will be looking for a new favourite place!
This food is so yummy! Especially the Sate beef! Would highly recommend! 🤩
