I'll start by saying that the hot food vendor in Crossroads Market is always tasty and fairly priced.
However, The frozen take home perogies are not great. The dough is inconsistent and the fillings are not very good. For example, the cottage cheese perogies are filled with only unseasoned dry cottage cheese without anything else. No potato, no salt & pepper, the cheese isn't even whipped first. The Sauerkraut perogies are just a blob of mediocre jarred cabbage all alone inside dough.
On top of that, they are sold in a basic Ziplock bags like I got them at my Grand Mothers house. Vacuum sealer are cheap these days. It'll look more professional, be more hygienic, and probably save you money in the long run. These frozen perogies are not worth the price tag.

Absolutely the Worst Borsch I’ve Ever Had
I had a very disappointing experience at this café. From the start, the woman taking orders was unpleasant and visibly grumpy, which immediately made me feel unwelcome. The interior looked old and depressing- definitely not a place where you’d want to enjoy a meal.
While I was waiting for my borsch, I could hear the kitchen staff arguing loudly. That alone should’ve been a red flag, but I still decided to give their food a try.
The smetana tasted off and even had a small piece of onion in it — which should absolutely never happen. The bun had a strong chemical smell, so I didn’t eat it.
And the borsch… was truly awful. No spices, no meat (which no one mentioned beforehand), and the vegetables were cut so large they barely fit in the bowl. I managed just two spoonfuls of the watery broth before leaving it — completely inedible.
As someone who’s Ukrainian, I’m genuinely sorry this is what they’re serving and calling borsch. For all my life, this was the worst one I’ve ever tried.
Ukrainian food can be incredibly delicious — just not here. I strongly recommend trying it at a different place.

I have dined in and had delivery. I have never been disappointed. Cabbage rolls have great flavor, perogies are tender and delicious and the poppyseed roll is a favorite.

Purchased cabbage rolls from the market and they are by far the worst I've ever had, bland, mostly rice and completely inedible. I ended up throwing them in the garbage. Really disappointing.

I used to spend a lot of time in Calgary (I'm from Edmonton) and our office was half a block from here so I came for lunch all the time. Fast forward several years and I'm in the area looking for a place to go for lunch then thought I got to see if this place is still here. Sure is! Stopped in for the regular lunch meal I always ordered. Tasted just like I remembered. The place has changed a little bit but still amazing food.

Went to SylvanLake farmers market. Ring of garlic sausage, small bag of perogies, small tray of cabbage rolls & jar of pickles $75. Food was average at best. The generic brand at Sobeys is much better at a fraction of the cost. Don’t waste your money.
Have visited countless times over the last 12-15 years as I work in the area. The no nonsense "soup naNi" attitude was always a bit comical, but really just old now that it feels like the lady in the back just scolds the young cashier of the week non-stop.
The foods grown increasingly tasteless unfortunately, where i remember once feeling like i could eat it daily, to scouring the streets for something on my way back to the office for some flavor. Its like a Cuban resort meal where you know its authentic, but is about as bland as a beige Volvo.
It's a big shame that the in-restaurant pricing mimics the food truck pricing. $12 for 8 pierogies and a scoop of boiled onion is absurd. I used to get a cabbage roll, kielbasa and pierogies for $8. I'll sever that blame with the Liberal Government though.
I don't know if its ownership, new management or just the cuts of the times at blame, but i highly doubt i will return after today.

Bought cabbage rolls at a market and the cabbage was so tough I could not eat it and the filling was just bland rice. Total rip off, do not buy.

Silly me. I was fooled.
Don’t buy there perogies!
I had no clue this establishment was a big buisness out of a Calgary.
I went to my local market (not knowing this vendor or approaching it before) he offered me a sample and then whipped out perogies and sausages, “40 bucks” he says.
My response: “do you make them?”
Him: “yes! Of course!”
I happily handed him $40.00 with the full intentions of thinking I was supporting some small “mom n pop” and truly only for that reason was I willing to try it.
As I’m walking through the market a lady says “oh he got you too didn’t he, I tried them and they weren’t anything special. So expensive too”.
I fluffed it off but then I got home, made about half of them because yikes the price!
Anyway after trying — I have NEVER, EVER had such bland perogies in my life…..
Save money and make yourself or buy from the grocery store. Seriously! Gotta love fake bacon bits *puke*!
Coming from Toronto I’ve tried a lot of different foods and perogies from making my own (delicious and cheap) to Russian perogies and other Ukrainian perogies.
There was little to no flavour. I honestly feel so dumb having purchased this and can’t help but think how many “one time customers” they probably have. What a weird way to make money. I was completely fooled by this man and I very scammed by this experience.

In town for Stampede and wanted some Ukrainian food, just found this place on google and decided to try it out. The food is EXCELLENT, takes me right back to my childhood ❤️. Prices are great as well (full combo for under $15). The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Definitely stop in if you want a delicious meal at a great price!

Got some cabbage rolls and pirogies from the farmers market and they both sucked. No sauce and the cabbage was so tough it was inedible, the pirogies were so salty. Disappointed. Not worth the price
