Riley was an excellent server - he made our parents celebrating their anniversary feel special and yet was not intrusive. The food, was excellent and everyone remarked not only on how tasty it was, but how pretty everything looked! All in all a special experience!

Truly outstanding in every way... our compliments to the chef and wait staff. I researched many highly rated restaurants in Calgary before finding this gem for my 60th birthday dinner with my wife. Very small, artful and intimate. We liked all the menu choices, but the shared meals for couples caught our eye. Our waitress was extremely friendly and professional in helping us make the difficult decision on which dish and complimentary bottle of wine to choose - they all were creative and sounded delicious. We got the special "variety platter" that included a ribeye, crispy duck breasts, lobster tail, frites smothered in the gravy from the entree stacked on top and grilled vegetables. Every single piece was cooked to perfection, but the sauces were masterful and put the whole thing over the top. Each was familiar but with a twist. Not overstated, just perfect. We recently traveled to Lyon and Dijon France and this meal rivaled the best meals we experienced there... no exaggeration!

Very tasty- very rich food. I think I have my fill of truffle for the next year. They happened to mix but our cook order on our steak and it was very well done instead of medium rare. They did correct this however we were unfortunately too full to finish. I think maybe the plate just stat out to long because when it did come the Lobster was cold and rubbery. This was my second time at this restaurant and the first time was not like this.

The prixe fixed tasting menu was outstanding and great value. The Chef accomodated a dietary restriction within our group wonderfully. It had been about six months since we were back to Vero Bistro and I left wondering why it took us so long to go back.
Vero Bistro Moderne is a place where my husband and I dine frequently. We recently had dinner there with out-of-town friends. There were 6 of us. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and seated in a quiet corner by owner Michael and his maître d’, Jodi. Chef Jenny starts us off with her amuse bouchées of cotton candy foie gras skewers: so creative. Followed by wonderful, duck breast crostini. Then Jodi, our server, brought out baby artichoke fritti, crispy and golden. All fabulous! We order the truffle coated arancini and the truffle parmesan frites. Everyone in our group is impressed – and getting full. Too many appys but we proceed. For the mains, I chose the steak frites. One of my favorites. Perfectly cooked medium rare with green peppercorn sauce: delectable. Our guests each chose the seafood stew remarking that it is well up to their BC sea coast standard. Other friends order the wild salmon declaring it “superb”. My husband, the vegetarian, loves the tortellini that Jenny has vegetarianized just for him. Afterall the appetizers and mains, along with fab wines we are all fully sated with no room for any of the luscious desserts on the menu. Chef Jenny is a dedicated, extremely creative chef whose menu reflects her and Michaels frequent travels to Italy, France and Spain. The service was beyond attentive, the ambiance soothing with a lovely light jazz music background. A splendid evening all round. Vero is really a jewel of a spot.

The surf and turf platter with steak and lobster was outstanding and the pan-seared BC salmon was also great. Overall, one of the best dining experiences in Calgary.
