What happened to this restaurant?? I’ve been coming to this restaurant since it opened and it used to be great. Today my ramen was salty, the waitress didn’t even offer water to us until asked, most of the time stood in her corner with no expression on her face. Wasn’t even busy. Disappointed and not coming back.

Wakado Ramen is a solid, reliable spot that delivers consistent quality and great taste every time. The ramen is flavorful, well-balanced, and very decent for the price, making it a good value overall.
The restaurant itself is quite small, so seating can be limited during busy times, but the food makes it worth it. If you’re looking for dependable ramen without the hype or inflated prices, Wakado is a good choice.

Wakado is the BEST place for ramen in Calgary. They’re the most consistent, authentic, delicious, and fresh. They’re noodles are the perfect texture, thickness, and length. Their appetizers are curated perfectly and the sauces to match are always the perfect pairing. Such simple, yet complex dishes. Outstanding every single time. I’m probably on my 80th visit. Oh one more thing - even ordering on door dash etc, the food comes just as delicious as it is eating it in the restaurant. It’s also just as delicious eating it as leftovers too.

I have really liked this place in the past but be careful ordering with Skip my order arrived with the whole broth split everywhere (on porch and in house) and they only offered a 50% discount as credits instead of just sending more broth and was advised to order another meal and pay 50% more plus delivery. No point.
Loved this place but so far the most recent trips I've been on the meat is very minimal now compared to before.... Pork can't be that much can it?
Been here a few times now, everythings always great.

Best ramen I’ve ever had, even compared to what I’ve in Japan. A must try!

One of the best ramen experiences I’ve had in YYC.
Traditional Japanese ramen is all about craftsmanship — the chef mastering the broth and noodles through years of dedication. You can really see that here. I highly recommend sitting at the open kitchen so you can watch the chef work with precision and focus.
When the bowl arrives, everything slows down.
No talking, no phone — just enjoying the soup base, the fresh noodles, and the steam rising from the bowl.
The flavor fits Calgary perfectly: rich but clean, warm but not heavy. I also suggest serving the bowl very hot so it keeps its temperature right until the last sip.
I finished the entire broth — and that’s when you know you’ve had a truly great bowl of ramen.

A little on the pricier end, but still a stable go-to for a quick lunch or dinner. Been going every now and then for a few years, nothing to complain about except cost. I recommend their goma. Noodles are relatively salty (not in a bad way), I would not recommend drinking all the soup tho.
I guarantee the spicy miso at Wakado is the best ramen in the city. I went around trying every best ramen spot in Calgary. This one takes it by far. I come back here every week and leave satisfied every time. Unreal.

A little small and crowded, but the food was amazing. Four star rating is due to not taking AMEX, which is my daily driver credit card. Extra noodles are $3.

Wakado Ramen — A Taste That Tells a Story
A Hidden Gem After Church
We discovered Wakado Ramen on a quiet Sunday afternoon after church and were lucky to find a table. From the first step inside, it felt like stepping into a small piece of Japan. The atmosphere is clean, warm, and deeply thematic — every element feels intentional. The décor, the gentle music, the calm rhythm of the kitchen — everything whispers authenticity.
Attention to Cleanliness
Even the washroom was clean and odor-free, which always says a lot about a restaurant’s culture. A little deep cleaning could someday remove the faint marks of age, but overall it was well-kept and cared for. Every corner reflected pride in the space.
Ramen That Touches the Soul
Then came the ramen — and it was unforgettable.
I’m not Japanese, but if I had a Japanese grandmother, this is probably how she would make it: a bowl that comforts, nourishes, and touches the soul. The broth was rich and creamy, the kind that can only come from patience and craft. You can tell there were no shortcuts taken — just skill, time, and love. The noodles had the right bite, the egg was perfect, and the pork was tender and full of flavor.
It was, quite simply, perfection in a bowl.
Masters Behind the Counter
The chefs worked quietly and gracefully behind the counter — focused, disciplined, and clearly passionate. I didn’t get to speak with them this time, but their work said everything: these are true masters of their craft.
The front staff were equally impressive — friendly, organized, and attentive without being intrusive. They’ve created a great system for welcoming guests and managing flow, even during busy times. Parking was easy and stress-free, which adds to the experience.
A Family Experience to Remember
My wife, my 11-year-old son, and I all left the table smiling. It wasn’t just a meal — it was an experience of comfort and wonder. There was a moment of silence after the last bite, the kind that happens when everyone knows something special just happened.
An Invitation to Japan
This visit stirred something unexpected. I’ve never been to Japan — but after this bowl, I want to go.
Or maybe, I want to go back.
Because somehow, in that rich broth and careful presentation, I felt the heart of Japan itself — precise, humble, and full of soul.
Final Word
To the chefs and staff: thank you for creating such a meaningful place. You’ve turned a simple bowl of ramen into a story — one that I’ll gladly tell again.
