Entered the restaurant, had a reasonable but already fore shadowing
- uncomfortable and introductory chat, being from Germany myself, Bavarian Red Seal Chef etc, etc. ....this not being the point I want to make, just outlining that I am not a novice in the restaurant industry. I wanted to try their food, was excited to do so, but never got to that point. I was "informed" that one can only order the course - menu versus single items. With that in mind I took a seat. I wasn't hungry enough for several dishes/courses and asked if I could order the Gulasch soup, have a beer and decide as I go to order more or not. The owner I assume, responded verbatim: "That's not how we usually do this....". Keeping in mind I was a first time guest in that establishment. The host introducing the guest to her concept of how to order from their menu? - is the antithesis of the definition of hospitality. I kept my composure and opted for a beer in order to decide what to do next, being slightly but negatively surprised. When ordering the beverage, already emanating the probability of not ordering food - it was said once again, "that's not the way we usually do it"...reminding me / the guest...."...this is why I explained to you initially how to order from the menu - that is was suggested to share / order all courses instead of single dishes...". I got up said thank you and left the establishment. The female asked on my way out.... "What do you suggest?" I answered: definitely more flexibility especially for first time - guests. The essence of the visit there was/is: either one orders the course meal or one won't be served.
Not my kind of friendly Austrian atmosphere - quite the opposite actually. I lived 17 km from the Austrian border (then) and went countless times to enjoy Austrian hospitality. This restaurant I am reviewing here has absolutely nothing to do with that. It has enormous potential, and could be one of a kind in this area but not with that approach and attitude. And if one advertises and sells Austrian Cuisine - make it and keep it so, regardless of decades spent in Northamerica. That's my professional suggestion.
Good luck Wiener Schnitzel Haus!

A true authentic Austrian Cuisine in Calgary! The Apple strudel is to die for. My only complaint is the mother was not there teaching how to make strudel the old fashioned way!

The food was good, not exceptional. The prices are very high, in my opinion. When you open the door and step into their deep fryer, I wished I hadn't washed my hair to go there. The $18.00 half cup of spätzle still seems absurd! Decor is dated, and their chairs are extremely uncomfortable. Back was sore before we got our entrees.
If they had more reasonable prices, I bet they would be busier.
Was ok to go once, but we won't be back.

Probably not their target customer, foods are way overpriced. You pay 60 for food that is around the quality of 30.

Delicious and authentic Austrian cuisine. This family run restaurant is an absolute must visit in Calgary. The entire experience makes you feel like you're in the old country from the amazing schnitzel to the Austrian salad and spatzle - exactly how I remember them when I visit family! The deserts are handmade in house and if you really want a treat at the end of the meal ... Einspanner. Viennese coffee with whipped cream. The menu is set up as either a 2 or 3 course meal and yes, it is more expensive than a burger at some fast casual restaurant. But you won't be disappointed with the experience and you certainly won't be hungry at the end of the night. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

Parking: About 12 parking spots in front of the restaurant.

Kid-friendliness: Kids are always accommodated and often given a little extra special treatment.

Wheelchair accessibility: Grade level entrance, wheelchair parking.

Delicious food. Generous servings for the schnitzel but wish it came with more sides . Loved that they had gluten free options. Reminds me of my last trip to Austria! Will definitely be back. The service was a little slower, with ordering and waiting for the bill but you can tell that it is a smaller family run business, so they take the orders and cook so we didn’t mind. It was pretty expensive for what it was, but we still enjoyed the experience.

Food was good, but not worth the price. The only options are two or three courses, appetizer, main and dessert. Sides and drinks are excluded from the options and are extra. The appetizer portions were laughably small. The schnitzel was good, but not over the top and certainly not for that price. The waitress was nice, but attention/follow-up was a bit lacking and there were only two tables (ours included) occupied while we were there. Unfoetunately due to the price, we wont be back.

Good, however overpriced! That meal in the picture below was $69 (for take out). To give a little more context I ordered a meal for two - or at least paid for it. Meal came with two schnitzel, one mini salad and one mini cheesecake. The lady that helped me with the payment - assuming the owner was super nice but talk about INFLATION… $69 for this is outrageous. I assumed there was more in the bag but nope this was it! Meal was yummy but not worth $70.

First time.at the Weiner Schnitzel Haus. Very friendly and accommodating hosts. Limited menu but done exceptionally well. Schnitzel was freshly made and a very good sized portion. Gluten free option for schnitzel available and they made a delicious GF souffle as other desserts were not GF. Will go back again.

Dietary restrictions: Menu mostly available gluten free. Would recommend they carry a gluten free beer to round out options.

Great restaurant with the friendliest owners:) Delicious schnitzel and cozy atmosphere. We were celebrating my Dad’s birthday and when they found out they immediately gave us a bottle of wine to celebrate with. Would highly recommend!

Dietary restrictions: The owner is gluten free herself so was great with gluten sensitivities.
