Chè bong is our go to spot for Vietnamese desserts and really love their variety! As someone who became obsessed with Chè after eating it in Vietnam, I was a bit disappointed with the Che options here’s until Chè bong opened!

At one point last year, I was obsessed and going every week 😩. There’s a lot of variety in the desserts so it’s hard to get bored!

Our go to orders are generally the durian Chè, fruity Chè, pomelo Chè and mango sago. But I’ve also had their tofu, coffee, coffee Chè. Pretty much have tried every single dessert option here lol and you can’t go wrong with anything!

First off they use REAL jack fruit (Not canned)! It’s one of my fav Asian fruits but it’s so hard to find in desserts here. It’s pretty labour intensive to peel fresh jackfruit not to mention it’s expensive!

Secondly their durian is really good - I always wish there was more in the durian Chè but it’s creamy and adds such great pungency to their dessert.

I became a fan of pomelo Chè when I ate it in Hanoi a few years ago but have never been able to find it anywhere / it’s also incredibly labour intensive to make - but they have it here on the weekends!! It’s difficult to explain the flavour and texture - but it chewy, sticky, and there’s no citrus notes from the pomelo as the rind is used. It’s cooked in a tapioca liquid so it makes it almost gooey, and I love the little bit of coconut cream on top. It’s one of my favourite desserts here.

Spot is tucked in Chinatown and there isn’t a ton of seating but we often get their desserts to go. They do have some small tables and chairs, but seating is limited.

The owner and staff are friendly and service is quick. Their prices generally $
range from $8-10 which I think it’s reasonable because they make a lot of things from scratch and they use more expensive fruits!

Would definitely recommend visiting Chè bong if you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese desserts!
