Amazing cakes here perfectly made with not too much sugar and fresh ingredients. I first discovered Yamato Bakery when I was attending high school near by (Crescent Heights). Since then any occasion Yamato Bakery is first on my list 🎂

I called to inquire about the fresh mango cake but the lady on the phone told me that since mango is not in season, she would not recommend me ordering that cake. She recommended the mango cheesecake and it was delicious!! I ordered it for my cousin's birthday and we really enjoyed the fruit on top. Im very appreciative for the lady for being so honest on the phone and being so helpful! I also picked up a slice of the pistachio cheesecake and that was so good - light and the perfect flavor of pistachio. I'll definitely be back to try the fresh mango when its back in season!

The mango cake was absolutely delicious. Fresh and made to order. It was done with xylitol to only have natural sugar from the fruit. Probably one of the best cakes I have ever ate. It is worth every dollar. This place knows how to make a cake.

Went to Yamato to check out their cakes since we were in the area and we wanted to buy a whole cake. We walked in and no one was at the counter so we looked at the cheesecakes inside the glass stand chiller by the door. We couldn’t quite see the labels on the mixed slices so we took out one to see. An older woman came out from the back and started berating us for opening the chiller saying we could see what’s inside without having to open it. I explained that we cannot that’s why we had to open it. I then asked if they have the mango cake. She sarcastically answered if we checked out their menu online since apparently it’s a seasonal one. There was no need to be rude about it. She could have just said it’s not available. I was hoping to support a local business but not this one unfortunately.

We’ve been there a few times now. We’ve tried the variety cheese cake set, the seasonal mango cheese cake, and the weekend-only beef curry pastry!! Every single one was amazing.
The place is small and unassuming but the food is unbelievable. Japanese cheesecake was light and airy. Nothing was overly sweet, the cheesecake was so refreshing!

We ordered the mango cake, the cake was fabulous but the service was terrible. Lady was rude at the front counter when we went to go pick it up to do the payment. Lost me as a customer due to indecent service but good cake.

Their fresh mango cream cake is amazing - it's carefully crafted by hand and filled with mangoes, perfect for mango lovers! The cake was also not overly sweet. I also like that they're locally owned and operated. Will definitely be trying more items on their menu.

The owner should have known your business will last long when you treat your customers with respect. Apparently this store owner can only accept praise，any suggestion will be rejected with very rude attitude. I am so shocked such a business is still in the market. Good luck for the future.

Despite being right on Centre Street, this tasty gem is not necessarily easy to spot; it is more than worth the effort of finding it though!
I am not generally someone who loves cake, but that could be because North American cakes are so sickly sweet. This is not the case at Yamato. The cakes have an appropriate level of sweetness and the flavour comes from the variety of delicious ingredients and not just sugar. Here, I can genuinely say I love cake!
