5 Stars – A Sweet Must-Stop in Canmore!
Al’s Chimney Cakes is a delightful hidden gem in the heart of Canmore! We stumbled upon it while strolling downtown and were immediately drawn in by the sweet, cinnamon-sugar aroma coming from the shop. The chimney cakes are baked fresh to order, warm and crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside—absolutely heavenly.
We tried the classic cinnamon sugar and one with Nutella and strawberries, and both were incredible. You can really tell they use quality ingredients. Al was so friendly and welcoming, and the cozy, charming vibe made the whole experience even better.
Perfect for a treat after a hike or a sweet afternoon pick-me-up. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the area!

This place is amazing! Super delicious, friendly staff, and over the moon that my son with egg and nut allergies could safely eat the cone (vegan) and the soft serve ice cream (lactose free). Definitely worth a visit if you're in Canmore!
