It’s been awhile since we have been to Crazyweed so we were excited to try it again. We decided to have an early dinner and it was also happy hour so we were excited to try their happy hour menu. We were disappointed that they changed tha happy hour from a selection of their flat breads to just 2 items, which were average at best. They had a poke bowl and fish and chips (which had an off putting curry ketchup) which were 25% off.
We were also overcharged for both of our drinks and the waitress didn’t believe the menu showed a different price. When we showed her the menu and that in fact we were charged incorrectly, she was not very friendly about it. Honestly I’ll just go to Bridgette Bar for happy hour next time. They do it right.

Loved the lamb and salmon! Chicken was a bit dry, and the pizza was a little salty for us with not enough sauce. Salsa was just okay. Prices are pretty standard for a place like this.

I absolutely love Crazyweed. The food is exceptional, and it has long been my favourite dinner spot in Canmore, Alberta.
Whenever we host family or friends, we make sure to include an evening at Crazyweed—because we truly enjoy it that much. I’ve recommended it to countless people visiting Canmore and have left many glowing reviews over the years. I’m genuinely grateful to have such an elevated restaurant in our town.
This week, we actually dined at Crazyweed twice. Our Wednesday experience was exactly what we’ve come to expect: incredible food and warm, attentive service. I shared a positive review afterward on TBDine.
Unfortunately, our Saturday visit for a party of five was very different. While the food was, as always, outstanding—kudos to the chef and kitchen team—the service was surprisingly disappointing.
We arrived ten minutes late for our 5:45 p.m. reservation, which I fully acknowledge. However, our server (a shorter woman with long reddish-brown hair) seemed irritated from the moment we sat down. She immediately reminded us that our table was booked until 7:45 p.m. and pushed us to order drinks, appetizers, and entrées almost instantly. Throughout the meal she repeated, “because you were late,” four or five times. There were no pleasantries, no warmth—only frustration. The only time she seemed pleased was when we asked for the bill.
What made this even more confusing was that the restaurant wasn’t full; there were multiple empty tables throughout our meal. Her fixation on our being ten minutes late felt unnecessarily harsh.
Despite this, we enjoyed our meal and were completely finished well before 7:45 p.m. Our receipt showed 7:27 p.m. Yet another staff member (with long straight dark brown hair) came to our table to tell us we had only eight minutes left “because we were late” and that another reservation needed the table. No one was waiting, and that party had not yet arrived, but we were still ushered out in a way that felt abrupt and unprofessional.
When I asked to speak with the manager or owner, the same woman returned only to argue with me about how many times the lateness had been mentioned. There was no apology, no attempt to listen, and no effort to de-escalate the situation. She refused to give her name and was confrontational rather than constructive.
These two staff members should not be in customer-facing roles—especially not at a restaurant of Crazyweed’s caliber. Their behaviour was disrespectful and completely out of step with the exceptional service we’ve consistently experienced from the rest of the team.
I am deeply disappointed. I have always gone out of my way to support and recommend Crazyweed, which makes this experience all the more upsetting. The food remains extraordinary, but the service we received on Saturday was far below the standard Crazyweed is known for.

The wood-fired pizza was perfectly chewy and packed with flavor — easily the highlight of the meal. The charred cabbage had that deep, smoky umami note that made it surprisingly addictive, and the curry salmon was creamy and balanced without being too heavy on the curry.
The cocktails were the only letdown — my husband’s Caesar tasted a bit watered down, and mine was too sweet for my liking.
We had a bottle of Clos Henri 2017, my first New Zealand Pinot Noir, and it paired beautifully with everything.
Overall, amazing food, warm service, and a place I’d happily go back to 😊

We loved the food. Lots of interesting options and we tried several. The beet soup was yummy and warming. I loved the lobster ceviche. Jordyn was a great server.

Food was amazing. Forgot to take pictures before digging in. Masala ribs, prawn ceviche and lamb were incredible, and Roxanne served our table of 8 with some dietary restrictions so, so well.

We came here based on a recommendation and the online reviews. First impressions- fancy restaurants but not so fancy - the statement they made. And they were right! No table cloth, scratched, bare tables, place a bit tired. Then service: our sever, Roxanne, just okay. Not happy, not cherry, just there for “her shift” kinda experience.
The food: the labneh: too sweet and $25. A joke. The Thai chicken - very acidic, not visually appealing, not great. Steak: we asked for medium rare, got medium well. Underneath some hidden cooked greens and 3 small potatoes. Not something to brag about. Then the salmon: raw, small piece of salmon with 2 pieces of veggies and a good tasting but unappealing looking sauce. The finale: when we got home (to Calgary-drive around an hour) we were running to the washroom. The abdominal pain, the end of the night for a celebratory dinner just not what we were looking for. Now that I read the bad reviews, I know that even the food poisoning happens there at times and the owner rejects it based on others not getting sick but meat is cooked individually and not for a batch of 30 or 50 people. Overall not an enjoyable experience at a very high price. One thing I’m glad about and that is us not trying their dessert menu.
