After landing and dropping our bags in Canmore, hunger led us straight to Tavern 1883. Sitting at the base of a mountain, the outdoor seating had a perfect view that set the tone right away. My husband and I stayed in Canmore for our Banff vacation and the tavern was recommended to us by our b & b host...and thank god it was. We relied on it twice for sustenance after long days of hiking and this place always delivered. You are missing out if you do not enjoy at least one meal at this restaurant. As dog owners we were highly impressed with the dog menu and the treatment of our pup. The drinks and food were all excellent. My husband had the bison burger and it was rated number one of many we have had so far on our trip. The Cobb salad was loaded with avocado and bacon.
