We were a group of five and the three said the food was great. Two us were vegetarian and we advised Faith when we arrived. It gave little time for the chef to pivot for us. We were served meat haggis in error but soon received something else. Otherwise the evening was terrific

My experience at the Stirling Dining Room and Lounge for the Burns Night dinner was nothing short of exceptional. The evening featured a fabulous four-course menu that beautifully honored Scottish tradition, beginning with a warming cock-a-leekie soup, followed by a perfectly executed beef duo and, of course, a classic cranachan to finish. The haggis course was a standout—rich, flavorful, and presented with real ceremony. The service was excellent from start to finish: attentive, friendly, and seamlessly coordinated. The night was elevated even further with a Scotch tasting showcasing celebrated Dalmore single malts, alongside spirited Highland dancing and heartfelt recitations of Robbie Burns' poetry. It felt less like a dinner and more like a true cultural celebration—lively, elegant, and deeply memorable. As Robert Burns himself wrote, “Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face, Great chieftain o' the puddin-race!” — Robert Burns, Address to a Haggis A perfect closing note to a wonderful Burns Night at the Stirling Room.

This used to be one of my favourite places. Used to be large portions, amazing flavours, and large, perfectly cooked steaks and delicious potatoes. It seems there is a new head chef and a new menu. Only 2 steak options; 10z ribeye or strip loin. I ordered the ribeye, rare. It was about 1/2” thick, cooked medium well, with no crust at all (pretty much impossible to properly cook 1/2” steak.) The only potato option was french fries. Everything was tasty, i suppose but i left disappointed and and hungry, especially considering how it used to be. My wife said her salmon was delicious but very small portion; less than four ounces. Service was great but they really need to work on their beef game and portion size. Went to Gaucho the next night to get proper protein intake. Haha

My family and I visited over the holidays. We made a reservation for weekend brunch. Sadly they seated us in the dark bar area- there were 5-6 open tables on the dining room side that were “reserved for high tea”. The entire time we spent there (which was only about 1:15), those tables were never occupied. We were disappointed, I wouldn’t have made a reso if I had known we’d just be sitting in a dreary bar area for a christmassy Saturday brunch. There are better options in Canmore.

The brunch buffet was honestly sub par as well— poor variety and limited options. Food quality and taste was good, but don’t expect a huge spread or anything overly special.

Would maybe try again.

New Year’s Eve Dinner.
Atmosphere was lovely; tables nicely decorated, and the live music was classy and appropriate.

Meal: 4 courses- salmon, duck, beef, dessert
Plated beautifully with nice portions. The dessert was delicious. The other courses were okay. It appeared that a lot of effort went into making a creative meal, but the taste missed the mark for us.

Price: $175/person

Service: Welcoming, knowledgeable, professional, attentive.

My boyfriend and I spent NY eve dancing to the 2 Bit Bandits band in the Stirling Lounge at the Malcolm Hotel. We had a fabulous time. It started with being greeted with a glass of bubbly and canapes at the entrance. With glasses in hand we toured the halls decked with XMas trees, still up from the Festival of Trees show. We were them escorted to our reserved booth, which we luckily had to ourselves. For our late night dinner, we selected from an upscale bar food menu and wide wine selection. A buffet snack of pork sliders, pizza and chicken wings was served 1 hour before midnight. Bonus that a $50 credit from the entrance ticket was applied to our food bill and that NY eve landed on a Wed when half price wine is offered at the lounge. The band began playing around 9:30pm, a mixture of CW and popular rock. We danced until 1:30pm. Nothing more needs to be said. Here's a little context to our review. We are in our 60s and are PT residents of Canmore. Initially, we wanted to attend some sort of NY gala at the Banff Springs Hotel. A NY eve party was not held in the hotel proper, but at the Waldhaus former clubhouse. And one could not even have had a drink or bite on NY eve on the premises of the Banff Springs Hotel without being a hotel guest, paying $1000 or more per night. Being a Malcolm Hotel guest was not a requirement to attend the NY party at the Stirling Lounge. Hope it stays that way for us Canmore residents!

My wife and I attended for the NYE tasting menu. We were greeted with glasses of champagne and sat down immediately. The wait staff were great and attentive throughout the evening. Would highly recommend if in the Canmore area.

The atmosphere was really enjoyable especially with the room that the staff has prepared for our family. Our server Faith was amazing as she was incredibly attentive and made sure we were well taken care off. Excellent service and great overall experience. Kudos and highly recommend!

Had the Sunday Buffet. Unfortunately they didn't have the Mac & Cheese this time. Also, the didn't have the home made Yorkshire budding. Still great and we would go back for sure.
