Well, Where the Buffalo Roam, it turns out they roam far, far away from families. Our group of seven (three of whom are gasp minors, not martians) was turned away faster than you can say “we’ll take the nachos.” Apparently, kids turn into pumpkins at 6pm here—or worse, they just ruin the vibe of the taxidermy or whatever aesthetic they’re going for. Those children order adult meals too and are quite well behaved. But I guess only we know that.
After a dramatic whisper session between the bartender and the waitress (like we were trying to sneak in contraband toddlers), they emerged with the verdict: no minors allowed after 6pm. Not even well-behaved, restaurant-savvy minors who don’t throw food or scream (can’t say the same for some adults we saw in there). If only we wandered in 60 seconds earlier. Would we have been asked to leave at 6 if we arrived earlier? One of life’s great mysteries.
Mind you, we had just eaten the night before at a literal brewery—yes, a place that actually makes alcohol—and they were more than happy to welcome us all. So clearly, Where the Buffalo Roam is less “rustic charm” and more “arbitrary gatekeeping with a side of pretentiousness.”
Thankfully, we ended up at The Local, where the food was great, the drinks were flowing, and the 8-year-old in our group made a bestie in a charming British-accented waiter named James. (Honestly, James deserves his own sitcom.)
So, if you like your dinners exclusive, confusing, and oddly anti-child, by all means, roam on in. Otherwise, follow the buffalo straight past this place and into the arms of somewhere that actually wants your business.
To be fair our friends visited here last week and recommended it. They said the food was amazing. I guess I’ll just never know.
Love this place! Their mocktails are amazing and we LOVE their dog friendly patio 😊
Tips are a reward for good service. When they are loudly demanded I will leave nothing.
Third visit in three days!! That should tell all you need to know. LOL really interesting and tasty drinks. Great spot to sit to people watch. The staff are really friendly also. The patio is dog friendly
We came here on a whim with some girlfriends for some bites and we were completely blown away by the food and drinks! Specifically we were blown away by the Drunken squid that we ordered it twice as it was absolutely delicious! The pork smashed dumplings were also very good! Drinks were also great. I really enjoyed the Strange Magic and Mexico at Night!
Went in on a Wednesday afternoon, so didn’t have to wait at a lot and there was plenty of seats available. Asked for patio seats and waitress just said to sit wherever. Waited for menu for about 10 minutes, then another 10 minutes to get waters. Waitress was short, not necessarily rude, but didn’t pay much attention to us. Didn’t get drinks menu with the food menu (significantly less positions than advertised on the website). Food didn’t take too long to get ready, but was overdone on spices - too much salt on fries and vegetable curry tasted like it was only made of coriander. After food arrived we got a different waiter, who was better. Drinks were good, but didn’t save the meal.
Love the patio, and the great selection of food, lots of gf options. The duck wings were awesome, super crispy. The chorizo was good but really rich, better to share, the short rib pasta was hearty, and I had a wagyu burger. Everything was awesome and place has creative cocktails too! Highly recommend
The lunch special steak sandwich was delicious! Very friendly staff, and a great taste in music. Will be back again!
A cafe with a beautiful view and delicious food. I also really liked the drinks 😍
At the height of the season, you will have to stand in line at the table and wait a little longer for the order. But it’s worth it and we’ll definitely come back.
Where The Buffalo Roam Saloon is great place! Great beer and great food! I appreciated the location in town too! I loved the selection of drinks they had! For food, I had the chopped chicken salad! It was delicious, the veggies were fresh and chicken was tender! The avocado ranch dressing was tasty and unique!

I'm not sure how long this place has been open but can't believe I haven't been before. I love a beer around the fire pit at the Grizzly Paw next door during shoulder season, but the cocktails at Where The Buffalo Roam Saloon might make me reconsider. We stopped by tonight for a snack and and a cocktail and boy did this place impress. Service was super friendly and the cocktails were perfect. I had the 'Modern Milk' with tequila, coconut balsamic, and I think green chartreuse and absinthe it was superb. My wife had the Cranberry Fizz which was a little more ordinary but still tasty. We had the jalapeno cheddar cornbread and deviled eggs and they were also delicious. Wish we would have stayed for dinner. We'll be back!
Great experience overall. Food was great, came out in a timely manor. The service made you feel like they appreciated that you came in. Awesome variety of cocktails that really keep up with other restaurants of its kind. Really excited to come back!
The food tastes average, it's too salty. Especially the fries are very salty, the service is also average, the price of the food does not match the taste, the price is a bit high! The point is that there are only two or three tables of customers, and it was not until I got home and checked the receipt that I found that I was overcharged by 15 dollars. It was really disappointing.
Food was good, but quite expensive for the value.
I had the best fries of my life here, the beer was great, and the atmosphere was really nice inside
