I don’t usually leave negative reviews unless I’m genuinely unhappy with the quality received. This one tops them all. I’m sad to say that I wasn’t impressed at all. Having ordered two sets of “special rolls”, I got 16 ultra tiny rolls that had too much rice and too little of other ingredients. Taste is bland and it just feels too soft. Totally not coming here ever again.

Best sushi in Cochrane. My faves are beef tataki, miso soup, volcano and matsuya rolls. Sashimi slices are perfect size, not like other places where they are too thin.

Well tailored menu and incredibly fresh ingredients. The minimalist items allow you to really enjoy the flavours and the craftsmanship.
Beautiful dining room and great service. I recommend the Tuna Tataki ?

Me and my wife came here for a lunch date. Food and service was excellent. Large portions and very reasonably priced.

Outstanding quality and simplicity. Enjoyed dinner so much with my daughter that we brought some home for my wife!!! Best and freshest fish I’ve ever had without being able to see the ocean!

Kid-friendliness: Rewards my daughter with grace and class

This is a nice sushi spot but it is rather expensive. The food is good quality but expect to pay a pretty penny to fill your belly. In my opinion the other sushi spot in town is just as good but has better prices and more options. Few non sushi options. Only 2 Beer options available, a light and a dark (both Japanese) The menu says “highballs” but not sure what those options are. Like I said it’s a nice spot but expect to pay up. It’s also a small place so you may want to call ahead for a table.

Was really good, but then was surprised at how the special roll (rainbow) was even better! Great value there. Delicious, friendly, we'll be back.

Kid-friendliness: Host was very hospitable with our 8 month old, high chair provided and lots of smiles.

Came in there with our kids tonight and the server was so kind. She even brought our kids special kiddo chopsticks to learn on. I highly recommend this place!

Matsuya is a wonderful place to visit. Joe and his wife are absolutely wonderful hosts and people, making the food better than it already is. Wether dining in or taking out this place takes my absolute top place for a sushi/sashimi fix in both the Cochrane and Calgary area.
