🍜 The Vibe & Verdict: Efficiently Sizzling Delight
Walking into 97 Hotpot is like stepping into a wonderfully organized culinary hive. It gets busy fast, buzzing with a perfect mix of large, happy families, casual lunch seekers, and devoted friend groups. Yet, the atmosphere, though lively, never tips over into chaos thanks to a truly amazing service team. They are absolute rockstars! Our servers were consistently attentive, magically appearing to top up the broth or whisk away an empty plate, all with a genuinely friendly smile. You never have to wave your chopsticks desperately here; they are truly on the ball.

🥢 The Culinary Chronicles & Health Highlights
As a repeat visitor, my choice is always the comforting inferno of the Chicken Spicy Broth. It’s a beautifully balanced furnace—flavorful, deep, and satisfyingly potent without just relying on brute heat. It’s the kind of broth that warms you from the inside out (and maybe clears the sinuses, which is practically a health benefit!).

The ingredients are where 97 Hotpot truly shines, especially for the health-conscious diner:

Protein Power: The selection is gorgeous. The thinly sliced beef and pork were perfectly marbled, ready to be flash-cooked in seconds. My favorite, however, was the chicken plate (Image of Chicken), which was thoughtfully garnished with vibrant goji berries. This is a delightful, subtle touch—lean protein paired with an antioxidant-rich superfood! We love a kitchen that thinks about more than just flavor.

Seafood & Variety: The mixed plates (Images of Seafood) offered great variety, from tender squid and shrimp to nutrient-dense seaweed (kelp), demonstrating their commitment to high-quality, lean sources of protein and essential minerals.

The Unsung Heroes (The Veggies!): The availability of unique Asian greens, mushrooms, and tubers you rarely see in Westernized Chinese cooking is fantastic. Hotpot preparation is inherently healthy—a fresh, customized cooking method that gently simmers whole foods in flavorful, nutrient-dense broth.

⭐ The Grand Finale & Call to Action
97 Hotpot isn't just a meal; it's a social, interactive, and surprisingly wholesome culinary event. They deliver high-quality, fresh ingredients in an atmosphere that is perfectly executed, all wrapped up with excellent service. For those seeking flavor, fun, and food that genuinely makes you feel good, this place is a must-visit.

Overall Rating: Five out of Five Sizzling Goji Berries!

Go ahead, grab a seat, order the spicy broth, and customize your way to a truly wholesome and hilarious evening! You’ll thank me later.

It’s all you can eat but if you buy the plates separately it’s overpriced and not worth your money

Came in last week and found bugs in my broccoli and maggots in my meet. They refused to amend the issue and claimed I'd have to pay to get it replaced. Avoid this dump at all costs

I booked a table for 16 this past Saturday for a work dinner. There was so much wrong with the experience. The quality of meat has gone down at the restaurant and we didn’t get a lot of the items we ordered as well.

The worst part of it was that the woman who was working the cash register messed up and under charged one of my coworkers. She then tried to make my other coworker pay for her mistake. She accused my coworker of being a liar and then lied when I called her out on the business’s dishonesty. I mentioned that they add GST to the automatic 15% gratuity on tables over 6. She then calculated it and said they don’t but did not show me the calculation. I wasn’t about to argue with her anymore so decided to just walk away. My coworker did not pay for the mistake and we left.

Bottom line is that I will never return to this place again and I used to eat here regularly, but never again. We won’t book here again for any of our large group dinners either. This place is shady and I’m sure I got food poisoning after this last visit too. I had bad stomach cramps, nausea was constantly in the bathroom the following day.

The staff are so great! Really friendly and efficient. My family and I love going for lunch. Great selection of meats, vegetables and noodles. Parking can be tough, but there are free stalls to the front, side and back.

I've been coming here since I was in college in 2015, loved it back before their renovations and still love it now. I would argue for value it's the best hot pot in the city.

If I could give these lovely people a 10/10 I would!!! We discovered this little gem a year ago when we lived to Edmonton from Vancouver Island and we had a huge hankering for hot pot. We stumbled across this wonderful family owned restaurant and haven’t looked elsewhere really for kick ass hot pot. (We have been to the one in west Edmonton mall but it’s too expensive and we don’t get the same family vibes that we get here!) we come about 1-2 times a month sometimes more (don’t judge we had gone almost 4 years without decent hot pot in Nanaimo lots to make up for!!!)

We brought my husband here for his birthday last weekend and Leon and his wife (I know her name and I’m drawing a blank!) came out of their way to say happy birthday to my husband. Geoff even got serenading from Leon which was super fun.

This cute restaurant is and will be our go to place for as long as we are here or they are here. We feel like family when we come in. They always greet us with huge smiles. The food is really fresh and fast. The restaurant is clean. What more could you ask for!!!!???

Much love to these people. ❤️❤️❤️
