There's a reason the whole UofA gets their coffee here. High quality espresso drinks with fun seasonal drinks, great doughnuts, and killer sandwiches. Cappuccino with a mortadella can't be beat.

This is for Bountiful farmer’s market location - servers did not know if the chocolate donut had nuts in it or not and made no effort to find out. Very disappointing. Clearly not the place to go if you have any allergies. I hope other locations are better.

I had a very disappointing experience at this coffee shop. At the counter I clearly asked three times for a large coffee, but they gave me the smallest size instead.

Only after I started asking why my order was wrong did the staff, with an unpleasant smirk, tell me that they “only have one size” – and they did this after the coffee was already made.

The whole interaction felt unprofessional: no clear communication, no apology, and the staff looked annoyed and uninterested, with almost stone faces. I left feeling that customers are not valued here at all. I would not recommend this place based on the service I received.

First off, their sandwiches are SO good. However, the drinks are too expensive for the taste. I love studying here, but I think it closes way too soon (4pm???). Overall the atmosphere is nice but just too expensive, especially when it’s so close to campus and most people going there are university students.

We often visit the downtown branch of this café and have always had wonderful experiences there. This time, since we were in the area, we decided to stop by this location instead. We arrived on a weekday, about an hour and ten minutes before closing.

By that time, there was only one sandwich and a few pastries left, which was understandable given how close it was to closing. We ordered a couple of coffees and a tea. However, the experience felt quite disorganized. The staff seemed focused on cleaning up and preparing to close, and the ordering process became confusing. Our coffee order was mixed up, and my husband’s London Fog was called a latte, so we didn’t realize it was his drink at first.

While I completely understand things can get hectic near closing time, this was still over an hour before closing — so the rushed atmosphere and mix-ups felt disappointing.

Hopefully this was just an off day, as every business can have one. We left feeling a bit overlooked as customers, which was unfortunate given how much we’ve enjoyed their downtown location.

I’ve given this place two chances, but the service has been consistently disappointing. Every time they have forgotten my add-ons or parts of our order, despite paying extra. The last time I ordered here I got the egg sandwhich wirh tomato and avocado, but paid extra $ to add bacon and asked for no tomato. The bacon was no where to be found, and it had tomatoes. (Service is already quite slow, so it’s frustrating to wait only to receive an incomplete order, especially at their prices). Unfortunately, I’ve given up eating here and taken my business elsewhere. It’s a shame, because the food itself tastes pretty good, but the experience just isn’t worth it anymore.

I always go to ACE Coffee in Garneau. I love the food, everything’s delicious and really well made. But there’s one thing that’s never good there… the washroom! It always smells bad. You guys could use some scented cleaning products when you clean it. Other than that, everything’s great!

Ambiance is very nice, the doughnut was good though was more similar to bread however the coffee was disappointing, i ordered the medium roast drip coffee and it tasted very acidic and unpleasant.

Seriously the best bagel& cream cheese I’ve ever had! They must make it in house because of how fresh it is. I was visiting a friend for the weekend and had to go back the next day cause I needed to experience that again. Wow, I can’t get over how good this bagel tasted. Looks like a very popular space! Lots of seating.

I was sitting at ACE Coffee Roasters Garneau location today doing some schoolwork when one of the servers came up to me and asked, “Are you hoping to order something?” I quickly responded, “No.” Then he followed up with, “Have you ordered anything?” I said, “Yes.” He then asked, “What time?” Obviously, I didn’t remember. His response was, “Oh okay, if you say so…”

I was caught off guard and felt disrespected. I’m not a “regular,” but I do come here quite often to study, and I have never been asked this or received such a snarky comment. Very disrespectful, sir.

What made it worse was that he didn’t ask any of the other customers who were here before me. Why single me out? It was very disappointing and frustrating. To back up what I said, I even showed him my transaction history. I didn’t have to, but I pulled it up and showed proof that I had purchased food (a prosciutto sandwich and a bomboloni donut). His only response was, “Oh sorry about that,” which felt very disingenuous.

Yes, you should be sorry.

The server did apologize and even offered me a free coffee, I declined, as I had already had a quad espresso earlier, but the gesture didn’t change how the situation felt.

As much as I like this place coffee and the food, this experience was truly a deal breaker and disappointing.

ACE Coffee Roasters Garneau, do better.
