Fantastic tacos. Apparently it turns into a night club at some point in the evening. I was on one of my quests for tacos and went in a wrong door… some how I missed all the signage and the bouncers who later caught up with me… seemed upset initially but later had a good laugh. Nonetheless will be back for more tacos.

I visited AZÚCAR on Friday night with my girlfriend, unaware that a live performance was scheduled to end within 30 minutes of our arrival. Our intention was simply to enjoy dinner and karaoke, not to attend the show. Despite this, we were charged $20 each for the performance, which felt unreasonable given our lack of interest and the short duration remaining.

Unfortunately, the experience was further impacted by the service. We encountered three waitresses who appeared visibly fatigued and were discourteous throughout the evening. Their demeanor made us uncomfortable to the point of questioning the safety of our food. Nevertheless, we proceeded with our order.

As someone who recently relocated from Ontario to Alberta, we had been looking forward to visiting AZÚCAR. During our visit, we met two other patrons who shared similar concerns about the staff’s attitude, which suggests this may not have been an isolated incident.

While we did enjoy ourselves socially, it was not due to the service provided. Additionally, we were surprised that none of the waitstaff spoke Spanish, which felt out of place given the restaurant’s cultural branding.

Overall, we were disappointed with the service experience, especially considering we spent over $200 that evening. Despite this, I’m willing to give AZÚCAR another chance, in hopes that future visits reflect the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere the venue promises.
Also none of the waitresses wanted to speak Spanish to us.

Tacos were pretty regular. The best thing was all you could eat i guess. But the taste is fairly normal.

Great atmosphere- very mexican vibe and feels and love the decor. I think it would also be a cool place to go to in evening with entertainment for those looking for that.
We went for supper, the service was ok - our waitress forgot part of our order until we asked about it near the end of our meal, and it took a long time to get the bill. Seemed they were overwhelmed but they just opened and only 4 tables were busy. Food was ok, tasted good but lacked some of the authenticity of mexican imo. Missing hot sauce options, and could have had some more salsa on side. The drinks though were very well done!

Azucar Taco House is an absolute must-visit on Edmonton’s north side! The moment you walk in, you're greeted by Latin beats, friendly staff, and a vibrant, homey vibe that’s perfect for family dinner or weekend fun . The tacos—birria, shrimp, al pastor—are all outstanding, with homemade tortillas and generous portions at great prices . I hit their Taco Tuesdays and Thursdays for the all-you-can-eat deal, and it’s a legit feast. The bar pours great margaritas and pina coladas, and on Fridays/Saturdays it even transforms into a lively dance club with live Latin music—so fun! . Bonus: plenty of parking and wheelchair access, which makes it easy to bring the whole crew . This place nails authentic flavours, vibrant atmospheres, and solid value all in one

Stopped in for a bite and came back later for the dancing. Food was not at all what I was to expect… just ok tacos. Everything during the club night is cash only.

The outside is looking a little rough but the inside is beautiful and cheerful, and the tacos and pico de gallo was excellent.
