This restaurant offers a convenient hotspot dining experience, but falls short of sophistication. The freshness of ingredients is decent, but not outstanding. Overall, it's a moderate choice.

Chongqing never fails us in the past 6-7 years, especially the compared with those not maintaining good quality after some time. Good service people, fresh food.

The experience as we walked in and the price is what is going to keep us from coming back.We walked in the door and got greeted by the hostess. We told her how many people were with us,( 4 of us with 3 more joining) and she asked if we wanted the buffet or the special combo. We asked the pricing and what it included. She said $37.95 and handed us a piece of paper, then she started talking to the couple behind us. We moved out of the way and we looked at the piece of paper and it was the menu for the special combo and at the top it said $21.95. We tried to ask her more questions but she wasn’t responding so we went and looked to get ourselves a seat, because she was no longer talkng with us. To which she yelled to stop us and asked us just to pick so she could open the buffet. A bit flustered we just picked the buffet and got sat at a large table. We asked if we could have a booth because we were there to try and have a conversation over lunch and it was a very large table. She said that they were allowed to push the tables together, which was fine.I got the Chinese herb hot pot, and there was a good selection of sauces, proteins, vegetables, starches, ready to eat items and desserts. I liked most of the food I tried but it wasn’t amazing admittedly. The server came around and gave us water and cleared our plates as we went and was nice as we finished our conversation. After awhile we realized we had to go up to the counter to pay, once we did we got hit pretty hard. With the auto- gratuity for having 5 or more people the bill came out to about $48 per person. So I walked away with about $100 bill for a passable lunch. So overall it was okay to try but we probably won’t be back.Dietary restrictions: Veggie options

It’s really disappointing that the server asking us for food waste charge. We were not wasting that much food which was very similar to other tables. But she’s just picking on us for charge only. And their food is always not fresh, and they are even recycling everything!!! Would never come again.

We celebrated my 50th birthday here. None of us had ever had hot pot before. I had a reservation... but we did at the door for at least 5 minutes due to either disorganization or understaffing. When we were finally seated with our friends, we waited another 20 minutes. They were short 2 place settings. I had to go find a server. She told us that she hasn't realized our party had fully arrived. We got our place settings and had to explain we didn't know how ask this worked. Basically, we delegated to my wife to order for the table because it was loud, and we couldn't hear our understand the server. Finally, the table went for some buffet and our soup bases came out. Most got the basic. I got Szechuan. The server was really concerned about how spicy it was. In the end, it was perfectly fine. I'd recommend it.Not once did the server ask if we wanted drinks. She came by a couple of times but I just think they were really rushed and understaffed.Once we got into the rhythm it was cool. The kids took a little help getting used to cooking their own food. They definitely enjoyed the fried food buffet and the desserts. The ice cream was quite good too. I would recommend the quail eggs. They had a rule about charging $5/100g of uneaten food. This definitely caused us to not experiment as much with some of the exotic foods, which was a shame.Overall, expect a little bit of chaos but the experience was fun. We were there for about 2 hours.Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetables to choose from to cook.Kid-friendliness: Kids need a little help, but a lot of the options at the buffet should suit a lot of tastes.

Food is never fresh!!!! Staff are very unorganized. Two servers were fighting over where to seat us. They were upset that two of our party was not eating and they got hostile when I accidentally ordered an extra item. You’re better off at Chili hotpot the food is fresh and they are always kind.
