Above and beyond! I came in with a group of girls for my friend’s birthday and they had decorated the table with a sign, table cloth, and candles for her. The service was fast despite it being a very busy night and they even brought out a dessert for her birthday. Love coming here!
Came to Earls again with a student association from the UofA and Alborz served us. It was absolutely amazing. He was very thorough and handled our large party with ease. Will be returning and requesting him!

My husband and I had what started as a great experience and ended as a terrible one a few weeks ago, when we showed up after the last Sunday showing of Moulin Rouge. We came in feeling welcome; we left feeling taken advantage of and appalled at the level of unprofessionalism.
It was clear that they hadn’t thought to check the Jubilee schedule in order to anticipate a post-show rush as they definitely didn’t have enough staff on. That’s okay — I’ve worked in the service industry for 20 years and know that sometimes you just have to relax and wait. We were celebrating our anniversary, in a great mood from the amazing show, and happy to just sip on some drinks and wait. Our server was friendly and doing a good job given how busy it was. Food-wise, the sushi rolls were good but the fish on our tacos was horribly burnt and everything was cold. Again, not a huge deal as the manager comped that meal.
When our server came around to do last call at around 10:30 we each ordered two drinks, but only after I SPECIFICALLY confirmed with her that they weren’t in a hurry to close. I know what it’s like to be waiting on one table to leave when everything is done and I wanted to make sure we weren’t being a burden. The restaurant was FULL of empty tables with dirty glassware and dishes so I assumed they still had a bunch of cleaning and side duties to do anyways. Also, by law, you have to give people an hour to drink their drinks. Our server assured us we didn’t need to rush so I offered to pay the tab early so she could cash out/do side duties.
Our drinks arrived at 10:45. At 11:00 we still had two full drinks but the staff turned off the music, turned up the lights fully bright, and then disappeared, leaving us alone in awkward silence in a brightly lit room full of dirty tables. It would be one thing if we had grossly overstayed our welcome or if the restaurant was actually being cleaned, but all the staff had gone and we could hear them laughing and fooling around in the back. The message was clear: GET OUT. I was genuinely shocked at the rudeness and level of unprofessionalism. Had our server said, “we do turn the lights on at 11” while doing last call, my husband and I would have gladly cleared our tab and moved on to a different location. What started out as a great date night ended up with us awkwardly rushing to finish our drinks in a bright, dirty restaurant.
Lying to customers just to ramp up their tab before immediately making the environment inhospitable is a great way to ensure that the people who spent a lot of money and left you a huge tip will never, ever return.
