The pricing on this precooked food is unreasonable.

I fully support African businesses, but these costs feel excessive.

Compared to other cuisines such as Vietnamese, Italian, or Indian—where dishes made with rich ingredients are often under $20—the contrast is stark.

For instance, biryani, which is comparable to jollof rice, is freshly prepared and sold at a far more affordable price and does not taste burnt -We want to support African businesses, but fair and mindful pricing is recommended.

So bad. Everyone is yelling at eachother, food isn’t ready, even after such a long wait.

They catered a wedding I was at in St Albert today and WOW. It was my first time having Nigerian food and I’m hooked. Asked the Nigerians there if I was just thinking this was great becuase it was my first time but the consensus was that Emgees is top notch. Very hard to impress a Nigerian aunty I hear but Emgees does the impossible

The Goat Meat Pepper Soup - will be ordering every week

Jollof Rice - Unreal

The food is mostly always good. But twice now, I have ordered something only for me to get home and realize that when that thing was not available I was given the alternative, without first asking if I was okay with it. This practice has to stop.

I heard about this restaurant through a friend and was super excited to try this one thing on the menu! I saw a foodie in Edmonton post on his instagram about it so I was wanting to try it out, because I’m all about trying new foods.
Unfortunately I did not have a good experience. The service was alright but I asked some questions about a few items on the menu but I didn’t get any elaborated answers. This was my first time trying African food so I was curious to know the flavours and differences in dishes. I felt a bit uncomfortable and overwhelmed by all of the choices so I kind of just went for one.
I ended up getting a stew that had beef skin/beef in it along with the fufu/egusi and a chicken patty. The problem was not the food itself but the portion sizes and the ridiculous price for it.
I will attach a photo of the portion I got of the stew. The lady had scooped up very tiny scoops of it and put it in this large bowl. The photo attached, I had only eaten either 2-3 bites and not very big bites.
In total for the very small portion of stew, the fufu/egusi, the chicken patty and a small bottle of water, it came to $42.00.
To be fair, it is my fault for not checking the prices of the items on the menu. But I got overly excited and very overwhelmed so I just went with whatever I thought would be good.
My only complaints was the service, only because I would’ve appreciated some sort of explanation for the dishes. Although I am aware I could have done my own research so that is not fully on the workers. The portion size was so small that it did not make it worth the $42.00 that it was. I did like the taste of the fufu/egusi and the chicken patty. The stew was not my favorite but it has an acquired or just isn’t my preference. I’m sure that other things on their menu are pretty delicious but from my experience, I don’t think I would go back due to the expensive prices and the small portions.
I don’t mean any harm by this review. I just want to give some constructive criticism I suppose but I do hope that this restaurant thrives, especially in this crazy inflating economy.

When this restaurant started out, the food was great & I went there almost every week, however, the last three visits have been horrible. I got food poisoning due to the fact that they do not store their food at the right temperature (below 4°C or above 60°C).

That being said, I will not be coming back anytime soon because I love my life.

In addition to their prices being way too high, you also get charged a credit card fee, even when paying with a debit card. That is not right & needs to be stopped.

They’re getting a 2 star review from me because the price to portion size does not correlate. The small bowl of ofada stew in the picture I have attached cost me almost $40! To be exact, it cost me $37.98. I will definitely not be patronizing them again.

**Edited to add another photo that will show that the stew wasn’t paired with anything. It was just the stew that cost $37.99.

I am new to the area and wanted naija food for myself and family and decided to go here. Every food I got was really nice from the poundo to the moi moi. Definitely somewhere I’d be going to often. Also, patient servers and there was a crowd there. There was no mistake.
