I am deeply disappointed and disturbed by the experience I had at this place on Sunday the 7th. Despite waiting in line for 10 minutes on a busy holiday, my turn to order was met with blatant disregard.

When I approached the counter to make my order, the cashier ignored me and walked away to handle other tasks. After a couple of minutes, she returned, but continued to ignore me even as I attempted to place my order again. Instead, she turned to the woman behind me, who was clearly white, and asked if she was actually the next in line, if I had cut in front of her.

I cannot believe that in 2024, in Edmonton, there are still people being treated as liars and dishonest just because of their skin color. I felt so humiliated in front of my two children. This behavior was not only rude but also overtly racist. It made me feel unwelcome and discriminated against in a public space, which is completely unacceptable.

Every establishment should foster an environment of respect and inclusivity, and this Cafe failed to do so in the place I have called home for the past 10 years. I hope the management takes immediate and serious action to address this issue, ensuring that no other patron has to endure such a negative experience. Until then, I cannot recommend this cafe to anyone seeking a respectful and inclusive environment.

Said it was open. Actually closed.

Inaccurate, not updated working hours in-between holidays. Says open when closed. Waste of time.

Good little Cafe. Coffee beverages are nice, but they could use more food offerings. Close to the River Valley Trails, but no bike parking. No water for animals either.

Given that this was catered by a well known Edmonton company, we were very disappointed with the quality of the food, and the limited, rather boring, selections provided. The wait staff were pleasant enough, but not very attentive. Is this due to the fact that the gratuity was included with the meal cost, therefore no need to spend time with the guests?

If you choose to attend an Easter Brunch at Hotel Selkirk the food will be fresh and plentiful to choose from. You will have plenty of people to visit with as it is a very popular event.

I absolutely love Fort Edmonton Park and have been waiting to go to the Hotel Selkirk to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner. Now I have done breakfast/brunch I am looking forward to dining there!! I can't wait.

We went for the Easter Sunday brunch. We have gone to the Johnson Cafe many times. We love the experience and have even stayed at the hotel a few times. The noise level does get pretty high when it is full. The flower arrangements on the tables were very spring like and very pretty. The service was very good as it was busy. Our only complaint was the food was cold. I am not sure who likes to eat cold eggs but it is not me. Every hot dish was cold not even warm. The variety was fine. It would have been nice if they had a made to order omelette or waffle station so one could get something that was hot. The cinnamon buns were delicious and the bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon were a delight. They even had the capers on the plate. I do not want to lose the experience of dining here but I feel they need to get on top of serving cold food.....Beverly Stachnik

The food was good. The complaint we had was the lack of direction when it came to parking and finding the cafe, and the lack of communication between staff members. We were told by some staff members to keep our plates to reuse because we wouldn't get another plate, then others would come and clear our plates without confirming and we would need to ask for new ones. When we asked a staff member about the confusion they had not been informed about the lack of plates. A bit confusing but we still enjoyed ourselves. Very limited drink options though, some lattes or something would be nice for a brunch as opposed to coffee or juice only.
