I ordered take-out, the foods were very tasty and the price was not overly expensive. And the owner punched it the amount and skip the tipping part, unlike some of these other restaurant tried to guilt you into tipping. Thanks for that.

IMAGINE THIS. Luuuuunch break. Your friend's family friend suggest this place and we go for lunch. To be completely honest, the pho was mid (mid being used in the sense before the way it is currently used). It's probably the low to middle of the pack of pho in Edmonton but not to say it's bad. Overall, it was ok and maybe we just went on a bad day.

We came in for lunch with our baby. The food was delicious and the staff brought us extra veggies and rice for our baby boy to eat. Would definitely come back. The wonton soup was incredible and so were the vermicelli bowls

First of all I’d like to say I’ve been eating here since 1991. The owners are a VERY nice family who in my opinion, make the best Vietnamese food in Edmonton. I can’t say enough good about this hardworking family because that would take me 33 years, as long as I’ve known them.

I’ve had every item on the menu and have never been disappointed. The spring rolls? You won’t find better anywhere in Edmonton. They aren’t the skinny little ones from big bulk chain stores or other restaurants, they are homemade, thick and crispy and oh so good.

When I was in the medical field and ended up downtown, this would be lunch or dinner instead of my crappy sandwich made at home. I’d be eating here at least twice a week and could recognize a dish name simply by a photo, as most of us could.

If you want a great meal at a decent price, like to support local and love Vietnamese food like I do, I highly recommend this place. I’ve not once been disappointed asides from when I showed up on the one day a week they were closed so the family could rest up and spend time with each other.

Parking: It’s downtown and parking along 97 street in front is not possible during rush hour. There is parking behind the place, either behind the restaurant if you aren’t blocking anyone in or there is paid parking as well. This place for the food and service is worth the trip downtown.

Kid-friendliness: They are kid friendly

Wheelchair accessibility: The front is wheelchair accessible.

I recommend the food but not the location or inside the restaurant. The walls and floors are disgustingly dirty. Covered in splattered food and sauces. Dust on everything and just overly unclean. The prices are also very expensive. There are people doing intravenous drugs on all sides of the restaurant. And parking is a nightmare. I've also been overcharged for items before. This was my go to for many years, not the case as the years have progressed. The food is good, to go is the best idea if you like the cuisine here.

The Golden Bird is an old old establishment on 97 Street in Chinatown. Still serving up some of the most delicious food in the city at very good prices, the Golden Bird is still a worthy destination.

Our server on this day was a little grumpy. We worked to lighten the mood and to try and cheer him up. He eventually came around.

The space is minimalist. It's not necessarily dirty...just old and a bit run down.

But again the food... It's a winner!
