Best green onion cakes in town. I’ve moved all over the city but will still make the drive here for the onion cakes when a craving hits.

Delicious Albertan classic. We stopped by on a road trip to get the green onion cakes. 4 for $20. They were very filling for two people.
Parking: There's a parking lot around the back and free street parking

I WAS a big fan until this place got slapped with fines for health concerns. Employees handling food without washing hands and reusing sterile gloves. BTW they have a kiosk set up at St Albert Farmers Market will the food products coming from this location…beware.

We were regular customers for 25 years at parkallen’s HAPPY GARDEN, always tasty and delicious. We were so excited thinking we found our beloved Asian cuisine, so from southwest, we made the journey! What a disappointment, nothing like the food we remembered! Different recipe for onion cake, dumplings AND szechuan beef. Pretty awful! Will not be returning. There’s a mouse house trap in restaurant area. Bad area of town and bad food. Not cheap either

Placed order on Uber eats and they cancelled my order for no reason. Now my funds are held up and I can’t use the money to reorder from another restaurant.

Fabulous little find with top notch service in a rustic setting and quiet atmosphere. Friendly service and an eclectic food menu, featuring lots of flavours for everyone's budget. I highly recommend a visit. And if you're lucky you get to meet and chat with the founder who still sticks around at lunch time.

As a Super Fan of Happy Gardens, till its end time, i was more than excited to continue the legacy of what i affectionately recall as astounding cuisine. Unfortuneately, this was not the case on my visit to the Green Onion Cake Man restaurant.
The atmosphere is interesting, with an eclectic mix of Asian garden meets Castle decor, meets elevator music.
Tea is not complimentary, but $$ per pot.
I focused on ordering my old go to's off the menu ... Green Onion Cake, MuShu Pork, and Szechuan Beef.
The Onion cake was light, crispy and flavourful. The Mushu a bit heavily laden with cabbage, and the pancake a bit stiff, but still reminiscent of the Mu Shu dish of the past. My biggest disappointment was the Schezuan Beef. The order was half the original size, complimented with rice instead, and $$$. The pieces were crispy, but dry and flavourless. Some sauce lingered at the base of the bowl.
I have come to realize the dish that i had hoped to rediscover is long gone, buried with the bustle, popularity, and divine dishes of the Happy Garden.

Solid experience. Green Onion Cake was crispy and flakey. Soup dumplings were flavourful and full of soup. Lots of choices for sauces. Prices were reasonable. Staff were friendly. Service was quick and food was ready soon after ordering.
