They were having issues with the grill so we weren't able to order any grilled food. That wasn't such a huge deal although a little disappointing. They seemed short staffed and even though they weren't full they didn't even have enough jugs for water (we did order other drinks) so we had to wait till almost halfway through our meal for water. The restaurant was also quite smokey.
Food was bland. Everything was bland. Nothing special about it.
Atmosphere and service was great.
First time trying Korean food, we really enjoyed the taste, it’s so flavourful.
Very peaceful place with several offers
Not closing at 12mn, staffs are closing so early. You should update the timing. As we drove 30mins just not to be accepted due to early closing.
I had such a great experience at Hanjan South! The atmosphere is vibrant and cozy, perfect for both casual outings and special occasions. The food was absolutely delicious—everything from the Korean fried chicken to the hot stone bibimbap was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. I especially loved the little details like the side dishes and the overall presentation. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Edmonton for Korean food. Highly recommend!
poor management
Got delivery from here. Chicken was amazing!!
Food was great and came fast. Amazing staff who are always there and asking if things are good.
Hanjan offers a trendy, modern take on traditional Korean cuisine. The atmosphere is lively and stylish, making it a great spot for dinner with friends or a casual night out. The menu has a nice variety, from classic dishes like bulgogi and bibimbap to shareable plates like Korean fried chicken and hot stone bowls.
The food is flavorful and well presented, with good portion sizes for the price. Side dishes are a nice touch.
Service is generally attentive, but it can get a bit slow during peak hours. The staff are friendly, though it sometimes feels like they’re juggling too many tables at once.
Overall, Hanjan is a solid choice if you’re craving Korean food in a vibrant setting.

Staff on May 11 at 10pm were okay but not the best. The server had no idea we had a reservation so staff had closed half the restaurant by the time we arrived. The server wasnt too friendly and just ruined the experience for our group. The food was very good! But the poor service overshadowed. When we pressed the call button it was ignored, they had forgotten a latte and when we reminded them about it, they brought out a drink that looked nothing like the photo and tasted of straight milk. At dessert they had brought out 3 bingsoo’s
and no spoons….how do you forget to bring out utensils for this. But don’t worry you can hear them the whole time just doing closing duties and polishing the silverware but not bringing it to their guests☺️ We had to go up to them at the bar/till because they would ignore the call button so we had to ask for utensils. Now we understand an auto gratuity but the service must reflect that, this did not. A 15% tip for okay service? And right at midnight the server tells us we must leave. So let me get this right, the server is clearly annoyed serving us the whole night, we are her only table,
she gets a 15% tip automatically from all of us (collectively she made almost $40 in tips from the group), and she forgets spoons for desserts and a whole drink then right at close asks us to leave? Thats unheard of at most restaurants. We would at least be able to sit for 5 minutes especially after spending so much money. So will not be back for the fact service sucked yet I was forced to tip:)
My fav place for me and my friends to go and just vibe and catch up. It’s our spot
Let me start with the food. It’s excellent, I’ve been here a handful of times now and everything I have ordered has been awesome.
The downside of this particular restaurant (I have not been to the other locations) it’s that the servers seem to half listen when you order.
Tonight I was trying to order a bulgogi bowl, so I was confused when I was asked half or full size. Being socially anxious I say half and get a drink. So food comes out, not a bowl but still looks excellent, so I just eat, not the end of the world, it’s like 80% of what I originally ordered anyways.
The problem happens when the bill comes. What should have been a $26 bill is now $40 for one non-alcoholic drink and essentially a plate of beef and rice.
But I am not someone that will argue about something I did enjoy eating. Which is why I am writing this. I will be calling them shortly but at the end of the day, there is nothing embarrassing as a server to ask clarifying questions, or punch food into the POS system correctly.
This was easily avoidable and extremely frustrating on my part.
Oh my God. Amazing food, fresh and delicious. The staff was attentive, very friendly and accommodating. We had an amazing time. Sam, the manager/owner and your staff (Michael and James), you guys are providing amazing service. Will be back ten thousand times.
Hanjan has always been our favourite place for korean food. But this would be the last time we’ll order takeout or delivery in this location. We ordered full galbi, bulgogi, gochujang samkyup-sal, and yang yum chicken. We were so excited to go home and eat as we had a long day. We opened the bag and there was NO RICE at all, which is always included in “full orders”.
It was just really disappointing as it feels like this always happens when we go to this location. I always enjoy and support the business but this location disappointed me so many times that I would rather drive to Oliver Square than be disappointed by this location. I think the business needs to address this issue and make sure that they are triple checking and making sure that guests are getting their money’s worth.
