Was in Edmonton for a bit and we dropped by Hanjan Oliver. A friend recommended it, and my friends and I went. The restaurant had a very traditional-esque interior with lots of space and seating.
The service was good; the lady we talked to was super nice and helpful with the menu.
Last but not least: the food. I've had my fair share of Korean food, and honestly, this place was pretty good. I got the Tteokbokki, which was good, and my friends got the Bibimbap, Beef Stew, and Japchae, which all got thumbs up from everyone in terms of flavor. Overall amazing place and will definitely come here again when I'm back in Edmonton.

Food is good. Under staff in downtown. I feel bad for the server on shift nov 11. She was just alone serving more than 10 tables.

We went for a family dinner with a larger party. The food overall average as the dishes were hit and miss. This was not our first time there and we returned as we enjoyed it last time. What truly ruined the evening for me was when the waiter brought me the bill, he advised me there was gratuity added, which I expected. He then told me I could add more if I wanted to.....that comment in itself is rude and even if I was going to add more, that changed my mind. I worked, managed and owned my businesses in the service industry and if one of my staff made that comment, they would no longer be employed. We will not be returning.

I had a wonderful meal there with a friend; we ordered so much food to share (panjeon, tteokbeokki, kimchi jjigae, and bebimbap, plus mango binsu for dessert) and all of it was delicious and warming on a chilly autumn evening, with gorgeous presentation. The service was excellent, and we spent several hours there enjoying the experience. I've tried a few Korean places in the city, but this was by far my favourite.

First time eating Korean cuisine. It won’t be the last time. It was excellent. With the guidance of my daughter we ordered some fantastic dishes. Service was prompt and efficient. Definitely putting this restaurant on my 5 star list.

We came here for a birthday gathering during the week. We made a reservation, but it wasn’t needed as it wasn’t that busy. There is a button on the table to press if you need assistance with anything, or to order. We got appetizers , main dish , and a dessert. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Food came out quickly.

Very disappointed with the takeout. The food was not fresh, the lettuce was rotten, and the portion size was really small. Definitely not worth the price. Won’t order again.

We recently dined at your restaurant for the first time as a group of six, and while we were very excited to try your place, our experience was unfortunately disappointing.
We arrived at 10:50 p.m. and placed our order immediately, understanding that closing time was at midnight. However, our food arrived very late, with the last dishes only served around 11:45 p.m. We were told the delay was due to a large group being served, which we understood, but it still affected our experience.
Shortly after receiving our food, we were asked to settle the bill at 11:50 p.m., and then at exactly midnight, a server informed us that the restaurant was closed and we had to leave. We politely requested a few extra minutes to finish our meals, but the response we received came across as abrupt and unprofessional.
On a positive note, the restaurant itself was cozy, the food was enjoyable, and the first two servers we interacted with were very kind. However, the overall service from the delays to the way we were asked to leave left us with a negative impression, especially as first-time guests.
We hope this feedback helps improve the service experience for future customers, as we truly believe your restaurant has great potential.

My fav spot for the best korean, this location in particular. Have only gotten takeaway/ delivery, as their closing hours r not too far off from the time I'm off work.
Picked up takeaway today, and I unfortunately did not get their name (they had visible arm tattoos, I believe that they had an eyebrow piercing, and we chatted about bleaching eyebrows!!), but just wanted to give one of the staff member their flowers. While I often find particular interactions tricky/ overstimulating (especially while waiting for a takeway to be packed up hahahha), they were so lovely and attentive!!
As always, am so so pleased with the consistent food and service :-)
Dalina was great
I've always wanted to go to Hanjan but never had the time to visit for months. Now the stars had finally aligned and we came here right after an Oiler's watchparty. We arrived right before other people filled up the place so it was a little busy. I'm surprised at how much space and seating they have. At first I just saw 4 person tables but they led us to the other area where they had large tables for bigger parties. We had 9 people in our party and they seated us immediately.
My boyfriend and I split the Bulgogi Fries and the Padak (Soy Garlic) Korean Fried Chicken. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. After one bite of the Bulgogi Fries, it was an immediate 10/10. The fries were crispy and had the perfect golden crisp + soft inside ratio. And don't even get me started with the sauce on top. The white sauce was light, and had the perfect combination of slightly sweet and savory. It was a wonderful aioli. And the veggies added were so good. The tomatoes and scallions added a nice freshness and slight acidity to the overall dish. Lastly the bulgogi was just *chef's kiss*. I don't really know how else to explain it other than the Bulgogi Fries were a well-balanced dish. We were scooping every single missed vegetable in the sauce after we demolished the fries.
The Padak (Soy Garlic) fried chicken was so tasty. Whenever I get wings, my go-to is pretty much anything soy garlic, or anything included garlic. The fried chicken skin was the best part. Great texture, crunchy, crispy, wonderful flavor. It was a great blend of savory, umami, and garlic. And the green onions on top was a great addition. Portion size for both things we ordered was perfect for the two of us.
Also, don't even get me started on the banchans. Great kimchi, radish kimchi was so refreshing, and that mashed potato side? Terrific. We asked for more banchan when we were done.
Lastly, we came back the very next day to try the desserts. At first, I wanted to pick one dessert to share between me and my boyfriend but it was so difficult to choose one. So we got both lol. We ordered the Injeolmie Waffle, Honey Butter Bread, and tried some of my cousin's Strawberry Bingsu.
The Injeolmi Waffle itself was delicious, sweet but not too sweet. The ice cream added that sweetness and the almonds on top were nice. And the Honey Butter Bread? Wow. The milk bread and the fresh whipped cream were fluffy, light, and not too sweet.
I would go back again in a heartbeat. If I was in the neighborhood, I would be a regular. And when I give a place 5 stars, 5 stars to me means: take my money and I might dangerously spend too much of my paycheck here. Which is what I did, but no regrets. I will not stop talking about this place. 10's all across the board for me! Love you Hanjan.
