The service was very good and both of the servers who helped us were very nice.

This seems to have been a cute restaurant at one point, however, the owners opted for a really weird esthetic when they DIY covered the seat backings in all the booths with poly sheeting (probably from home Depot) and tacked it with a staple gun over the old upholstery.

The sushi was okay, if you are new to Japanese food, but there are a lot of places that serve sushi in Edmonton that is so much better. My wife said that the eel was fishy. Eel shouldn't have a fishy taste.

The Nabeyaki Udon came in a plastic bowl (not a clay pot) and was very disappointing. The broth was closer to a chicken stock than it was to miso; it was okay, but nothing to write home about. They informed me quickly that they no longer make it with shiitake mushrooms and I should have taken that as a cue to order something else. In the broth were noodles, 1 tempura prawn, a well done, unseasoned fried egg, an abundance of unseasoned chicken that seemed to be microwaved (and maybe from a rotisserie chicken?), and puzzlingly, carrot sticks and broccoli heads. For one of their most expensive udon on the menu, it instills no trust in the quality/taste of the cheaper options.

I have wanted to go to this restaurant for quite a while and finally had the chance. Unfortunately, it was not ichiban.

Very good food. Had the bento, hibachi shrimp, tempura and sushi. Topped off with the lava rolls. Very nasty and filling. Excellent local restaurant.

I probably wrote a 5 star review, somewhere, about this special place, many years ago when it first opened up. My wife and I have had the pleasure of eating here a hundred times or more. We were discussing the fact that the quality of the food and the service has not diminished one bit in all this time. Something we can't say about some of the other restaurants we have frequented in the past. Steven and his staff have always maintained a high standard.....THANKS SO VERY MUCH!!

Staple of our family, both eat in and take out. Never disappointed, wide variety of different rolls without diluting the quality. Recommended: cherry blossom, sunshine, Fuji, grasshopper, and spicy tuna.

This is obviously a neighborhood favourite, as the food is good and inexpensive. The decor is a little tired, but the staff are friendly and helpful.

We love Ichiban! Best tempura, wonderful rolls, especially the Volcano roll, and always lovely sashimi. We have eaten in this restaurant since they opened their doors over 20 years ago!

Absolutely fantastic sushi! Everything was fresh, beautifully presented. The rolls were perfectly made. The service was just as impressive—friendly. You can really tell they care about both their food and their customers. Highly recommend this place to any sushi lover!

If you want fresh sushi, this is the spot in Edmonton, very impressed with the size of the rolls, and the quality, of the melt in your melt fresh fish
