Heard lots of great things about the restaurant here and have been meaning to try it for a long time. Finally got the chance to and while the service was good and the atmosphere wasn’t bad, the food was just okay.

The menu is pretty average with lots of staples in Japanese restaurants but nothing that really made it stand out. The food didn’t blow me away or anything but I wouldn’t say it was bad either. I can appreciate that they have lots items at different price points so you definitely get to have great options in how you want to dine!

Overall, the fish felt fresh and I would say it’s a reliable meal that you probably wouldn’t be upset over but nothing too special.

I went there for dinner last night, our server Chris was really nice and accommodating, he gave us some great tips, and made sure we had everything we needed.
The food is pretty good, I loved their curated beef, and the Edamame to die for.
Highly recommended, will be there again for sure.

It took over 30 minutes for me and my date to get water after asking our server 3 separate times. Our food came before water. The food was excellent but service was so bad that I can not recommend anyone going to this restaurant if they want an enjoyable time.

What I love about dining here is that the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. Most of them are men, with one woman, but they were all very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. The moment we entered the restaurant, they greeted us with warm smiles, which instantly made us feel comfortable and welcomed. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, perfect for a casual meal or even a date night. The service was quick, and they constantly checked on us without being intrusive.

As for the food, my partner absolutely loved the Kimchi Udon the flavor was rich and perfectly balanced. I personally enjoyed the salmon fried rice was cooked to perfection. Everything tasted fresh and authentic, making the whole experience worth it. We’ll definitely come back again!

My first impression of Izakaya Tomo was already great — even the restroom was spotless, and the toilet seat was warm! That small detail showed how much they truly care about customer comfort and service.

The customer service was top-notch. A very kind gentleman helped us choose our dishes, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. You can really taste the quality and freshness in each bite.

I highly recommend Izakaya Tomo if you’re looking to enjoy authentic Japanese food that’s both healthy and delicious.

First, I want to say that I LOVE sushi. I have eaten it all over the world. And, to my surprise, this place has the best sushi and sashimi I have ever had! I enjoy my sushi with some hot sake and they many options to choose from. I was blown away by how good everything was. I highly recommend eating here!

Izakaya Tomo is an absolute gem in Edmonton! The food is authentic, fresh, and full of flavor — every dish feels like something straight out of Japan. The sashimi and small plates are beautifully presented, and the quality is consistently top-notch.

The atmosphere is warm and lively, just like a true Japanese izakaya, and the staff are friendly, attentive, and make you feel right at home. Perfect spot for sharing dishes, enjoying drinks, and relaxing with friends.

If you’re looking for authentic Japanese comfort food and a great vibe, Izakaya Tomo never disappoints.

This is a wonderful and absolutely delicious Japanese delicacy restaurant. For my son's 25th birthday we had a great time and we shared a beverage, tower of beer.

We had such a great time at Izakaya Tomo!! Chef Yuwa was so accommodating and personable for my private birthday class. The instructor, demonstration, and support when we made our own sushi was so fun. He did a great job at teaching us how to make pressed sushi, hosomaki, and nigiri! 10/10 would recommend, and I think everything should have an event there!!

Thank you Chef Yuwa and Melanie for such a fun and interactive night 🩷

this was the WORST Japanese restaurant I’ve ever been too. Their Sake was overpriced $34. for 10 oz. I ordered the middle of the road sale $23. for 10 oz and it was super gross. The menu wasn’t offering many choices so I just ordered a 5 piece salmon roll. It was soggy and disgusting and I could only choke down two pieces. I’ll never be back.
