Disappointing across the board. The coffee is burnt, flat, and overpriced. Pastries taste like they were hauled in from a mall food court.
There are at least 20 better options within a 5-minute walk.
Pro Tip:
Skip Kindred entirely and head 10 steps across to the Stantec Tower. There’s a young guy running a coffee cart there who’s dialed in—barrel-aged beans, excellent espresso, and he’ll remember your order after one visit. Easily one of the best cups in the city. Not even close.
Looks can be deceiving….coffee was not bad…even for a latte it was a tad overly milky…..the vegetables had to have been from yesterday, cucumbers (not shown) were slimy….but for the price fresh would be appreciated. Croissant was not like their usual fresh and delicious….this was not even chewable… disappointing when there are right timelines at break times.
Service despite poor food quality always lovely.
Might be a while before a return considered

My husband and I went on a date and it was beautiful. High windows, bright and amazing environment. And good food!

All the staff worked well together providing attentive service - efficient and friendly. Ambiance is bright and airy. We all enjoyed our food.
This place is great. The food is nice, the service is good and the environment is open and lovely.
I think if you are dining here with lots of people during the season you might need to be a little more patient. Serving lots of people at the same time is tough, so if you expect something rapid during or after a game maybe lower those expectations.
The food is hearty, wholesome and just what you expect. I’d give it a go :-).

This place is really just for hotel guests that don’t know the area and don’t care to explore Edmonton. Staff are either uninterested, understaffed, or undertrained. Probably a combination of the three. They are also under stocked on alcohol during a playoff game.(How?) Music was also strangely very loud because they pre-adjusted it for the game. The place sounded like a nightclub but had the vibes of a retirement home. There are holes in the wall with in walking distance that have better food, better service, and a more lively atmosphere than Marriott’s “5 star experience”. If you’re a local, throw your cash at a place that actually gives a damn. You will be pleasantly surprised how much money you will save too
I made a reservation a week in advance because I was genuinely excited to try this place and watch Game 5 of the Western Final. We showed up on time, even after dealing with traffic and parking. But right from the start, it was a mess.
There was no hostess, which would’ve been fine if there had been some sort of system in place. Instead, a kind but clearly not knowledgeable busgirl told me she needed an iPad to check us in—but it was being used by the waiter. We stood there awkwardly for 5–10 minutes. Only after she noticed how frustrated I looked did she finally tell us to just pick any table. The place was practically empty—just one large table of eight, us, and a couple that had just walked in.
Then the waiter came by for drinks, and we were told that most of the draft beers listed on the menu weren’t even available. On game night. That’s ridiculous. There were only three beers to choose from really.
After we got our drinks, the waiter didn’t say a word about when he’d be back to take our food order. No communication, no urgency, no care. At that point, I’d had enough. I told my family to finish their drinks so we could leave and go to Joey’s down the street, where I knew we’d at least get decent service and be able to enjoy the game.
It’s really disappointing, because I wanted to like this place. But the lack of organization, poor service, and limited draft beer menu—especially with barely any customers in the restaurant—just shows a serious management problem. There are way too many good restaurants within a few blocks to waste time on one that can’t get the basics right.
The food was good and it was a nice place to hang out before the Oilers game. Service was terrible. Our waiter didn't come over to take our first drink over until just over half an hour of us being seated. Tried to go to the bar to get a beer and I could not order there. It wasn't full at all, not sure of the person was new or what was going on.
Excellent food and great service. Only complaint is it is very hot when the sun is out but that's minor. We will be back
Located inside the JW Marriott on the main floor (Breakfast Visit)
Price: $$$
Service: 4.78/10
Coffee (drip): 8.2/10
Breakfast (Mushroom Omelette): 7.8/10
Overall rating 3.5/10 for lack of general ambiance and A/C set to 17 degrees on a sunny but <20 degree morning
EDIT: May 18 2025
Congrats Kindred on winning Edmonton's Worst coffee cup 7 years running.

Lovely place! Great service always received to my friends and myself everytime we come here for a game or simple chat. Especially Danielle, always a treat to have her as my waitress every visit :) super sweet and welcoming
The food was good but the portions were embarrassingly small over the three courses I ate. They were between a half to a third the size I had expected. Regret not taking pictures to add to the review.
Great spot before the game...music was a bit loud but there was lots of energy in the hotel!
Service was quite slow but our server was friendly. Love the ambience downtown. Tried the fixed prix menu and it was delicious. The pear salad should be on the menu permanently!
Always an excellent experience! I love the more upscale dining in a less formal environment. Great menu for kids and our servers have always been so accommodating for kids. Well done, guys! Can't wait to come back!
