The good and the bad about Mai Mai:
First, the pros:
- Flavours so brilliant I briefly considered whether I would trade my firstborn for the lime beef salad
- Fresh veggies and herbs, crispy bits, and expertly prepared meats
- It is close to home, which is convenient (and a danger to my wallet)
- The staff are lovely and the service is great
Now the cons:
- The fact that I have only just discovered it makes me question my priorities in life
- While very reasonably priced, I can already feel my budget judging me. And I haven’t even tried any of the desserts yet
- There’s no easy way to explain to friends I’m now basically in a relationship with bánh mì

Small place, like the lantern decoration. The spring roll was fried well. The bbh flavor is much more mild than what I'm use to though. Really great presentation with the good. The pickled veggies were a nice touch.

Nice little Viet restaurant, very few seats so you may have to wait if it gets busy. I got the ca ri ga and bot chien. The curry noodle was pretty decent, hard to find this dish in town. I liked how they used chicken thigh and also de-boned them. I liked the flavour of the bot chien but I find that since they added the sauce into the plating it takes all the nice crispiness away. I did also ask for extra crispy but I didn't know the sauce didn't come on the side. Usually it does. It was good but was also pretty soggy halfway through.
I did find the pricing to be higher than your typical vietnamese restaurant but I guess that's how it is I'm the south side? Every banh mi spot in the south has their subs around $13 which is insane.
Ordered the lemongrass chicken and the beef sate vermicelli bowls as well as the phries. It was delicious . I definitely prefer to order from here. Food has always been great regardless of what I order !
Everything that I have ever gotten there has been so good! Similar price to other places but way tastier and interesting
Curry Chicken was great. Try it. Ha Noi Pho as well.
Great Viet dishes, atypical and unique. Good prices. Small shop and comfortable.
The place is fabulous, absolutely love it. Food is tasty and served beautifully. Service is wonderful Allah is very pleasant and efficient with a very busy place. The place is very welcoming, clean amd atmosphere is fantastic. We will be back ❤️
Awesome Banh Mi, great atmosphere, brilliant service
This hidden gem is a must try!
Probably my favourite Vietnamese spot in the city! Mai Mai gets everything right — from flavour to presentation to hospitality. Their tofu is truly next-level; the way it’s cooked and seasoned is unlike anywhere else. I usually go for the vermicelli bowls and banh mi, and they’re consistently fantastic — fresh, vibrant, and uniquely presented.
The chili oil? Absolute perfection — just the right amount of heat and depth. You can tell they put real heart into their food. Service is always warm and attentive, and I love that they even supply to Sea Change Brewing — a great local connection.
Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for bold, authentic Vietnamese flavours with a twist. A must-try!

I've been going to Mai Mai since it opened, and it's become my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. The menu really hits the spot when I'm craving Vietnamese street food—the flavors are fresh and authentic, and the portions are just right. I also love the mix of vintage and modern in the decor, and the staff are always friendly. I've brought many friends here, and they all enjoy it too. I highly recommend Mai Mai!
Stole across the city because he hear this place was great and we were not disappointed. We will for sure be back! Food was great and so many things I still want to try.
The food here is always spectacular! The pandan iced coffee is a must try and the service is very attentive. I’m in love with the art selection they have hung and I find a new favourite every time. All around a wonderful experience.
We have been here quite a few times and the food and service are consistently good.
The salad roll was the best I've had. The pork belly vermicelli was amazing. I finished off the meal with a Vietnamese Iced Coffee and cheesecake spring roll that was out of this world. Beautiful decorations and great service. I will definitely be back to try more dishes!
