I really enjoyed my visit to Mareeg restaurant
The food was fresh, flavorful, and the portions were generous.
The service was excellent, the staff was friendly, fast, and very welcoming. Specialy Hamdi.
The ambiance is warm, clean, and pleasant, perfect for dining.
Highly recommended!

The food was amazing! I ordered camel 🐪 and I’d say I would go back again. But as soon as you walked in the restaurant there’s was an awful stench almost like sewer and the washrooms where very poorly kept.. other then that good food, good soup & good service. Very attentive.

This is hands down the best Somali spot I’ve ever been to. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and cooked with real care. The service feels genuine and welcoming. You can tell they take pride in what they do. If you want authentic Somali food done right, this is the place! 👌🏼

Food was excellent. Two significant issues to consider. First is that the salad is not much of a salad. This could use some effort. 6 strips of lettuce and pieces of yellow onion is not salad and other East African restaurants serve delicious salad as part of the side. Secondly, the ratio of goat to rice needs to be re-evaluated. I feel like I purchased $25 worth of rice. Hot sauce is nice.
Other item ordered was the BBQ chicken with Alfredo pasta 8/10. The Alfredo pasta does NOT taste like Alfredo sauce. It has an interesting greasy beef flavour. The taste is rich and delicious but not saucy like Alfredo sauce is. BBQ chicken was good. If there was a bit more sauce on the chicken or as a side to the chicken, it would likely be the best chicken in the city.
Will visit this restaurant again but will eat in to see if there is a difference between in-restaurant service vs takeout.

Mareeg Cafe is an amazing Somali restaurant. The food is delicious and they provide a decent portion. Along with the food you get a soup, banana, and a drink. Everytime I went the food was constant to the taste. The staff are very nice and welcoming. There's not much delicious Somali restaurants here in Edmonton, and that's okay, this restaurant makes up for it. It's a must try.

Went there to get a takeout order of the goat and rice. It was fantastic. Enough for 2 people with one entree. Meat was very tender and well seasoned. Rice was soft and perfectly
