We got there at 10:20 last Sunday (no reservation so this is probably my fault) and was told had to be out by 11:30 for a reservation. I didn’t think this was an issue as I had looked at the menu before I went. Within a few minutes of sitting down and getting water and coffee we ordered (just 2 of us). Thirty minutes later we still had no food and our server had not updated us or even approached our table (it did not seem that busy as there were more than a few open tables). After 40 minutes of waiting I had to wave down the server who said they would check on our order. After coming out of the kitchen they proceeded to do something behind the bar but didn’t let us know anything about our food. After waving them down again after having waited 50 minutes they came and said they would check again - only a few minutes… 5 minutes later food came out. By this time the next reservation for 11:30 had come in and the 2 servers were not quiet about how we were sitting in the table for where the other people were supposed to sit… even though there were other tables. They could definitely do better on the service.

Went here last Friday for our first dinner out with our 3 month old baby which we were nervous about and had a great time. Our server was so welcoming and sat us in a spacious area since we had a car seat with us. Food and service was great, dining area was calm and relaxing (even the baby!) and we’ll be back. Thanks!

The waiter completely made the visit. Our food was good and the restaurant is very pleasing. The staff were delightful and our waiter gave great recommendations on what to try and had also tasted most of the menus which I completely love! He was spirited and made it a great visit for us!

Very cramped, poor communication from the server, food was ok but very much not worth the rest.

We recently hosted our office holiday party at May, and it was wonderful. The ambience was perfect, the food was delicious, and Jimmy, Brad and Dana took great care of us! Jimmy was also super easy to work with in planning everything, and very accommodating and open to suggestions. A fun night and great memories!

We came in for brunch about 30 minutes ago and asked for a table for four. We were told the wait would be about 1.5 hours. We noticed four open bar seats and asked if we could sit there instead while waiting. The lady said yes, but then very bluntly added that we wouldn’t be served food for about an hour anyway because they were “super busy.”

The issue wasn’t the wait — it was the tone. It was dismissive, rude, and unwelcoming. On top of that, another staff member who initially greeted us walked away while we were deciding whether to stay or leave and never came back to follow up.

For a restaurant, especially during brunch service, this level of customer service is unacceptable. We felt brushed off and unimportant as customers. Horrible staff interaction and the worst service experience we’ve had in a long time.

Daniel was attentive and engaging, he matched our humour and made us laugh. We both had the corn bread benny, it was delicious; definitely would reorder.

We had a family brunch here recently. Was extremely disappointed to find out that they do not have high chairs for small children. Of 4 tables occupied, 3 had children meaning there were 7 kids under the age of 5 in the restaurant at the time. The food was good, but don't expect to get a nice coffee. They only have drip and for a finer dining establishment we were very surprised that they could not make any espresso based beverages. For an area that has a ton of young families, this unfortunately is not a family-friendly restaurant.

Incredible brunch experience at May!

Everything from the atmosphere to the presentation was flawless. The space is modern, bright, and welcoming — perfect for a relaxed weekend brunch.

We ordered a few dishes to share, and every single one was a hit:
🍳 The breakfast platter had perfectly seasoned potatoes, fluffy scrambled eggs, smoky sausage, and thick sourdough toast.
🍗 The crispy fritters were golden and crunchy on the outside, soft inside, and beautifully topped with sour cream and microgreens.
🍅 The shakshuka-style dish was rich, flavorful, and paired perfectly with their grilled sourdough.

Service was friendly, food came out hot and fresh, and you can tell a lot of care goes into the details — from plating to flavor balance.

Highly recommend May to anyone looking for upscale comfort food done right in Edmonton. I’ll definitely be back!
