We ordered the sushi boat and several rolls for a birthday celebration. They brought out a complimentary scoop of ice cream which was very much appreciated Loved the surf clam - best we've ever tried.

After more than 10 years of loyalty to Mikado, I’m incredibly disappointed. My family and I have ordered the same dishes for years, but this time the quality was shockingly bad. The Dragon Eyes were drenched in oil—so much that it left some spot in the container—and the BBQ squid, always requested well done, was mushy and tasted old. Even the salmon sashimi tasted off, which is unacceptable for a sushi spot. I called to speak with a manager, waited 20 minutes on hold, only to be dismissed with excuses. I was promised a follow-up that never came. After spending thousands here over the years and recommending it to countless friends and family, it’s upsetting to be brushed off like this. Looks like it’s time for us to find a new go-to sushi place.

We took our daughter there for high school graduation dinner. We got a private room which was perfect. They have several little rooms that seat 4 -8 people. Service was excellent and very respectful! The sushi was probably the best that I have enjoyed in my life and we’ve had at several places. The food had great blended tastes and very tender consistent texture which was awesome!

We had a very disappointing experience at Mikado Japanese Cuisine on the west side of Edmonton. We were denied entry simply because we brought in a small meal (burger and fries) for my son, who is a very picky eater due to his autism. This food was not for anyone else—just for him, so he could sit comfortably with us while the rest of the family enjoyed dining at the restaurant.
I respectfully requested to speak with a manager—twice—but no one came to speak with us or explain the situation directly. It was incredibly disheartening and left us feeling unwelcome and discriminated against because of my child’s disability.
I do not recommend this place, especially for families with children who have special needs. There was a clear lack of understanding and compassion in how the situation was handled. My family left feeling hurt and excluded.

Delicious as always. I ordered beef Bento box this time. All food served was so good and quantities of them were really satisfying and fresh.
Husband got his creamy jalapeño sushi. He likes his too.

I've tried just about every Japanese restaurant in this town and there are some great ones, however the skill of the sushi chefs here really shine when you ask for chef's choice sushi. They make sake magical nigiri if you ask for chef's choice. You will not be disappointed. Besides their sushi, their beef yakiniku is probably the best Japanese beef dish I've ever tried. Definitely a cut above your standard teriyaki beef, and then some. Also their food presentation is artistic and elevated and you'd think you're dining at a high class restaurant. Mikado will always be my favourite that I always return to after exploring Edmonton's Japanese food scene as the high standard of Japanese cuisine. I've also eaten at many Vancouver Japanese restaurants and this one still shines.
