Unsurprisingly, the food is such high quality here - just like the first/sister location, Moonga Sashimi. Our chef was excellent in conversation with the two of us and thoroughly educated in all things Japanese sushi - we had a great time learning about fish, different cuts, and an assortment of other information from him.

Went here last week with my wife. We got the Takoyaki, Chicken Karaage, and Chef's Sashimi Platter.

When the Takoyaki came out the server said "Be careful, it is hot inside." In fact it was not, it was still frozen inside. When the Chicken Karaage came out it was kind of like chicken nuggets with lettuce.

The Sashimi platter was alright, good quality fish cut into slightly-too-large chunks and plated on some kind of witches' broom with dry ice underneath.

Afterward, their machine wouldn't take my ATB card and they all gathered around and chatted in Korean when my wife had to pay. I became worried I was a victim of identity theft or something.

I stewed on this for a while and decided not to post a review until today when my wife and I placed a similar order at a different restaurant (which I guess I won't name for the sake of not seeming like a shill) and I found myself angry the whole time. It wasn't peak hour at this other place, as it hadn't been on our visit to Moonga Nori, but the Takoyaki was fully cooked and tasty. The Karaage was actually good. It was the same price range as Moonga Nori. My card worked and I left a big tip.

So yeah, my fingers are crossed that this place doesn't make it for very long. Maybe the other location is good.

Great vibes and great food! The tuna sampler was decadent. Other dishes like the King Salmon sashimi, Chawanmushi, and Wagyu hand roll also impressed. We eat first with our eyes and Moonga Nori does not disappoint in presentation. Yum!

Happy to say that the last minute decision to dine at Moonga Nori was a great idea. If you’re looking for Izakaya style that’s casual and fun to eat, this is the spot. Everything about this place reminds me of Japan. In Canada you don’t normally hear the staff greeting customers saying “Irasshaimase”. The food tasted delicious and presentation was beautiful. The icing on the cake was getting real freshly grated wasabi…I was impressed.

First visit for early dinner on a Tuesday as a walk in. I am sure it requires reservation at prime time and weekends. Food was fantastic, one long counter to seat everyone enables viewing of chefs. Spectacular presentation and fresh deliciousness. All the favourite sushi/sashimi items made better than anywhere we have tried. Oysters on special menu along with abalone, blue fin and wagyu. Definitely going back to try more

Went here for my sister's birthday by complete and utter chance, didn't know a thing about the place, and the two of us were extremely impressed!! Some of the best sashimi either of us have ever had--the king salmon was to die for. Presentation involves dry ice and fog which had us googly-eyed with delight. Drink deals were also great, the Corona bucket was awesome. Service was also spectacular in that we felt welcome but also left alone enough to just soak in the ambience. Such a great atmosphere to this place, chic and modern with traditionalistic nods. The single long, LONG bar is such a fun experience.
All in all, definitely a place I'll visit again!

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Monga Nori, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we walked in, we were enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere that beautifully captured the essence of Japanese culture. The ambiance was perfect, providing a serene and comfortable setting for our meal.

The food was nothing short of spectacular. Every dish was crafted with precision and artistry, showcasing the incredible skill of the chef. The fish was incredibly fresh, as if it had just been caught from the sea. Each bite was a testament to the quality of the ingredients and the chef's dedication to perfection.

The serving was equally impressive. The presentation of each dish was stunning, making the meal a feast for both the eyes and the palate. The staff were attentive and professional, ensuring that our dining experience was seamless and enjoyable.

A special mention must be made of the chef, who was not only talented but also incredibly hospitable. Their passion for Japanese cuisine was evident in every dish, and they went above and beyond to make our meal special.

In conclusion, we loved our experience immensely. Everything from the atmosphere to the food and service was impeccable. This restaurant truly deserves Michelin stars for its exceptional quality and dedication to excellence. We can't wait to return and enjoy another exquisite meal.

Tried this restaurant the other day and the food here is just average. Prices for the sushi are rather high compared to most placed. Upon entering the service was slow as we did not get waters until 10 minutes later. I ordered the bluefin tuna set which came with small portions. Also the sushi did not taste fresh. The value here is quite low.

My five-year-old son's and my favourite is Ikura, and we have been looking for a fresh Ikura in Edmonton. Finally, we found one!!! Whenever I ask my son what he wants to eat or where he wants to go, he always answers Moonganori. If you want to eat fresh sushi, sashimi or roll, I highly recommend Moonganori?

It’s so simple, if you state hours on Google, be open for them, showed up at 9:25 and they had the closed sign already up. Google says they’re open till 10pm.
