I ordered $120 worth of take out. Probably the worst sushi I have had in Edmonton. Event the avocado rolls I got for my child were terrible - brown avocados, and mushy. The tuna hand roll was not shaped like a hand roll and barely had a tuna in it. Good thing as the tuna tasted horrible/not fresh. We didn’t even eat them all. I always wanted to try their omakase but now I would not.

Only got takeout not the omikase experience but this was the worst sushi I've ever had. Not even grocery store quality. Go to Isakaya and forget this place. First ever review it was that bad. Had to get the truth out the rave reviews for this place must be fake or paid for.

Some of the best quality sushi and sashimi I have found in Edmonton. The lunch bento box is incredibly high quality and everything was top notch. This is a tiny spot just with bar seating so keep that in mind when planning. Can’t wait to come try the sashimi platters next time.Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly due to limited seating

Yesterday was my spouse's birthday and our first take out was impressive from the quality of food and taste. Thank you moonga. I had anxiety not knowing whether the order is going to get filled or not and several attempts in the last 1 year where the online ordering system was closed just when I needed it. But in the end, it worked out great because the food was impeccably prepared.

What an amazing dinning experience!! We were so happy that we popped in! It’s in the middle of a strip mall in Edmonton! I didn’t expect one of our best dining experiences. Each piece of sushi was like a piece of art! We highly recommend eating here

I got the party tray from Moonga recently. Overall, all the sashimi and rolls were good so I’d give it 8.8/10. Items that stood out the most were:- Bluefin Tuna: 9.3/10: Fresh, especially for places in Edmonton- Red Snapper: 8.8/10: Although not as good as in Japan, it’s still rare to see this quality in Edmonton- Salmon: 9.3/10: Fresh and crunchy- Scallop: 9/10: Fresh and SWEET- Hamachi: 8.8/10: Nice pieces of hamachi- Squid: 9/10: I'm typically not a big fan but the squid was pleasant to eat as it wasn't slimy- Nigiri: 8.8/10: Nice pieces/ratio which hasn’t been as common in Edmonton- Ebi Roll: 8.8/10: Quite flavourful, went well with everything else that was ordered

Went to celebrate a birthday with Omakase! Top notch food offerings! Its expensive for edmonton, this experience is 50-60% more expensive in Vancouver with not as great service. Will visit again

Amazing. Not one thing we had was not a 10/10 we ordered the sashimi special, the salmon roll, bulgogi udon noodle, and the wagyu special role which came with freshly shaved truffle and caviar. Bougie Roll. We sat right in front of the chef which I would highly recommend, it’s a small space so even if you’re not directly in front of them you still can see everything. Watching the truffle being shaved in front of us was very cool. My favourite was the Salmon Roll. Highly recommend

A formidable option for Japanese omakase or choose your own adventure. I really enjoyed the freshness and quality of the sushi. The only part that fell short was the tempura used in many of their maki was cold and not crispy as one expects tempura to be. Unagi maki and chop chop maki were delicious.Service was friendly and I liked the bar seating and high ceilings - I felt like I escaped Edmonton for an evening. The restaurant has limited seating so you should make reservations (credit card required) to avoid disappointment.

Fantastic dining experience with delicious flavours!I have been waiting to try their Omakase menu. At a hefty $175 (not including tax/tip) per person, no wonder Moonga is located within ATB bank! ?Having never dined at Moonga before, I had two concerns. The first, that the fish would all taste similar and blend together. The second, that I would leave hungry. I had nothing to be worried about. The Omakase menu consists of appetizers, sashimi, nigiri, some extra items (eg. Soba noodles), and dessert. All together, there were 23 delightful courses.I was really impressed with not only the freshness of ingredients, but with the thoughtfulness of delicate flavour combinations. Some pieces were artfully smoked, others with a hint of lemon or truffle. The fresh fish was certainly still the star, but the subtle additions of garnishes or sauce enhanced the flavour. The soy sauce and wasabi were made in house, and were so yummy. My husband and I both left pleasantly full but not stuffed. The chefs and server were fantastic. It was fun to see everything meticulously prepared right in front of you. The chefs were very professional and certainly cared a lot about their craft. Service was fantastic. Unlike other reviewers, I felt that one server for 11 people is great, especially considering how tiny the space is. Perhaps easier with an Omakase menu where all 11 patrons are receiving the same dishes. We also tried the flight of sakes ($25 for 3 sakes) and selected the two premium options and one yuzu. If you are wanting to taste and are not necessarily ordering alcohol to get hammered, you can certainly share a flight between two people. All in all, I would highly recommend this dining experience, at least once! At $225 a person (including tax and tip and one sake flight), it is pricey but worth it.
